Description

🍄 Mario Koopa Shell 🐢Case for Wireless Mouse 002

Jumping on it repeatedly might not give you extra lives, but printing it will certainly give a lot of fun to you and your kids!.

For a longest time I've had an idea for a Mario themed split keyboard, but when I saw Bambu Wireless Mouse Components Kit-MH002 I decided to start with a mouse. To avoid some unnecessary design risks, I have not only made it compatible with the kit itself, but also with the 3D printed parts that are not visible from the top- this means the whole inside electronics case, battery cover etc.

If you already have this model printed- that's great- you already have most of the parts ready. If not- go ahead and print the “Wireless Mouse Bottom Shell v2.0” profile first.

Koopa Shell being a case for the base model has a lot of advantages:

  • You can swap it with different cases depending on occasion- this one is recommended for long Mario sessions ;)
  • You can have it printed for your children or friend, and test it on your kit, before buying a second one.
  • The assembly is as easy (basically identical) as in the base model.
  • Despite the base model being right-handed, this one is ambidextrous.

Printing options:

This model is designed to be printed even on the most basic printer, but having a Filament Management like AMS system will allow us to avoid painting and get the best results. Make sure to see all the print profiles before starting a print.

For now you have following options:

  • Supreme: Print the white brim in one colour [I used white] and the shell in two colours [I used Bambu PLA Basic Green and Bambu PLA Metal Oxide Green Metallic].
  • Dual-color without AMS: You simply print the brim in one colour and the shell in the other. Later you can paint the creases by hand, or leave it like it is- it will still look nice.
  • Fastest: This option is the best when you want to test if you like the model, or if you want to paint the model by hand anyway.
    • For safest and most economical print you can lay the whole case flat- the results are good enough thanks to Variable Layer Height. If you are planning to sand it before painting this might be an option for you.
    • For better quality I recommend printing it standing up, this way the layer lines won't be visible almost anywhere.

For the first two options there will be an additional step required, which is gluing both parts together:

  • Make sure to test fit all the components before gluing- it's easy to mix it by rotating base by 180°.
  • The inside case should still be removable (held in by screws). I would recommend leaving it out when applying the glue.

Additional tips:

  • If your buttons seem to be stiff or non-clicky, try bending the button part very slightly [like 5%] the other way. After that the buttons seem to just start working.
  • Be very careful when removing supports. I would recommend to break the tree at the thick parts, and later remove each part of the support separately. The buttons (RMB and LMB) are quite delicate, and the dpi button might be tricky.
