Description

This design uses a mix of 3D printed parts, various lengths of 5mm dowels and a bearing. Everything can be printed without support material. Below is a list of all the non-printable parts:

  • 5mm Metal Dowels - These can be purchased on Amazon or other websites in either kits with multiple sizes or packets of specific sizes. For this project you need:
    • Required
      • (6) 20mm x 5mm - NOTE: 6 dowels are required for the handle but size can vary. I used 20mm.
      • (2) 30mm x 5mm (Hinge)
      • (5) 40mm x 5mm (Gear axel)
  • One Bearing - 65mm OD x 50mm ID x 7mm h bearing
  • Super glue, J-B Weld Steel Reinforced Epoxy
  • Grease or other lubricant (Optional, but recommended)

Another amazing vault from Rocco! I really enjoyed printing this one (my 4th vault).

 Filaments used:
 Bambu PLA Basic silver
 Bambu PLA Metal iron gray
 Bambu PLA Metal iridium
 Bambu PLA Silk gold 
Bambu PLA Silk silver 
Bambu PLA Sparkle black

 One of the best parts about Rocco's designs is his attention to detail regarding assembly- there are so many thoughtful touches he adds to make things easy- I wish all designers would follow his lead! Looking forward to the next one, Rocco!

@maiduyloc have you actually printed this vault using your print profile? 5 walls with 25% infill across the board is soooo much unnecessary filament. Your main box comes in at 778g- I just finished printing it with 5% cross hatch infill and 2 walls (with 10% infill for 0-5mm and 135-150mm for better top layer quality) and it's SUPER strong- and 350g less filament (422g total). The design of the box has it getting much thicker towards the top of the print (which is the opening of the box) so it's very strong by design. I made a print profile and adjusted the parameters for each part to get the best quality with the least filament used. Small parts can be printed solid, some parts need more/less infill/walls/top layers than others. I will be uploading it once I finish printing it. Your profile in at 1357g total, mine comes in at 875g. I get that the points for uploading the first print profile are attractive, but you should definitely print it first so you know the profile works properly.. your profile says it takes almost 40 hours and this was released less than 24h ago :)
