After printing nearly every NES keychain model available on Makerworld and other 3D model sites, I wasn't happy with how any of them were created or how they looked when printed. Mainly, the space for the NES label on the front was either the wrong aspect ratio or the wrong size, so all the labels had to be squished, or stretched or cropped to fit properly. This made me really frustrated, so this version fixes all of those problems!

I've created a 13 slot display stand to showcase your keychains! This is provided as a separate print profile, since the settings on it are different than the cart and sleeve.

The bottom of the display stand has three negative pieces filled with supports if you want space to add some double sided Alien Tape to hold it in place.

I've also provided a PDF set to 8x10 that's all ready to print on a 8.5"x11" piece of sticker paper. I've experimented with Holo paper which can be bought on amazon, but I found the best paper is just normal sticker paper. The holo paper has a more grey look to it, which makes the colours on the labels a little more washed out. I recommend trying both and seeing which one you like best!

Mini NES Cart Pinout Model in place on bottom of cart!

If you really want to go the extra mile, check out Makerworld user XAUCE.'s Mini NES Cart Pinout model! This is a seperate piece that can be printed and glued into place on the bottom half of the cart to emulate the PCB board inside of the cartridge. I printed mine with a grey back and gold pins with a 0.2mm nozzle. Check out that print profile here if you want to give it a try!

I highly recommend playing around with different kinds of PLA when printing the cartridges and sleeves. I did a TON of testing, and playing with PLA Silk Dual Color produces some really amazing results. Also, I found the best kind of filament for the sleeves is anything with sparkle in it. Bambu's Black Sparkle PLA works incredibly well and hides the layer lines.

Changing the top surface from Monotonic Line to Hilbert Curve produces some amazing results with Silk Dual Color filament, but I found that Monotinc Line produces the best results with normal PLA. I also tried some of Bambu's PLA Galaxy filament for the carts, and it looks incredible as well. Have fun with it! If you have any cool results, please post them in the comments, i'd love to see what you make!

I've also redesigned the keychain hole, and made it a negative object in Bambu Studio. If you don't want the hole and want to display them that way, delete the ‘keychain hole object’ and send it off to print!

The Print Profile for the NES Cart has cooling turned off to help prevent the edges from curling up. Feel free to add a brim if you'd like, but I haven't found it necessary.

Assembly requires a little bit of manual labour!

Download this image here - Print at 100% size!

First, set the NES cart to print. It prints in two parts, using pins on plate 2 to align them together. The two parts will be glued together. I recommend some gel glue like CA Glue

While the cart is printing, print the NES Labels (Direct Download) on a laser printer or any printer capable of high resolution output. I'd recommend going to a local print shop, since the cost to print with your own material is usually WAY cheaper than printing at home. My local shop will print me a handful of pages for $3.50. The file is set to 1200DPI for maximum resolution, and most home laser printers will not print them with as much detail as a professional machine. If you want the kind of detail you see in the pictures in this listing, use a professional printer.

I've experimented with Holo paper which can be bought on amazon, but I found the best paper is just normal sticker paper.

Once you print your sheet, find a cutting mat, ruler, and exacto knife, and slice the labels up into their individual components.

Next, print the pins in a cheap PLA. I use generic black PLA. Set the two parts of the cart face down so the holes are visible, and fill the holes with a dab of glue. Add the pins, into one half, the add some more glue to the center of the cart. Take the half without the pins and push it on top. I'd recommend putting a book on top of the cart while the glue sets.

Once the glue is set, take your small label, and i'd recommend scoring or bending the top portion to add a crease where it folds on to the top part of the cart. Remove the sticker backing and apply to the front of the cart. Rub down the whole label with a soft cloth, and really rub on the top part of the label. I'd also recommend adding a small dab of glue and spreading it across the top of the cart so the small thin section stays in place.

Wait for the glue to dry, and attach the keychain! Now you're playing with power!

I included a bunch of NES labels in this set, but if there's any games you really want to see, leave a note in the comments, and i'll track it down and add it to the sticker sheet!

Make sure the page is set to print at 100% size, and there's no scaling at all and they should fit perfectly! The page is set to be 8x10 so it should fit perfectly in the middle of an 8.5"x11" paper, and the individual labels should be 22mm wide by 38mm tall including the part that wraps around the top of the cart.

Prints came out great! The hardest part for me was getting my printer to cooperate and print the size of the labels correctly. I did follow the designers recommendation and put a drop of glue on the overlapped/top part of the label, otherwise it kept peeling up.

printed really good, although the labels were a bit too big? will have to try resize them….tried to print off at 100% but maybe UK paper is different than US paper sizes differ than little bit (no option for US letter on my printer)

The labels should fit perfectly, so I would go through all of your print settings to make sure it's not being scaled somewhere in the process. The size of the document is 8"x10" so it should fit on a 8.5x11 sheet of paper which I believe is pretty standard around the world. Sometimes scaling options can be hidden in different parts of the printer dialog box, so I would look everywhere you can or try a different printer if possible.

I must say I'm suprised how well the guide pegs work, at first I thought these weren't big enough but I just used glue in them and then glue on the inside part and sandwiched it and the oegs really did help it line up perfectly with no fuss
