Description

I wanted a way for my teen to access the gate latch, but i didnt want it to be obvious/ugly and didnt want the obvious string hanging there. So i designed this gate latch release, I made it in multiple parts to avoid the need for supports. I used a wire rope to connect to the gate latch, this could definitely be done with a string but I wanted to try to avoid future failure. I did design with screw holes and then realised, i wont be able to access the screw holes once assembled, and it needed to be assembled prior to install, so i just left the screw holes and used polyurethane to “glue” it in, i figured the screw holes may allow some of the glue to seep through and create a stronger bond. You could also use silicone or whatever, this is just what I had on hand, mostly it's held in by the string going to the latch anyway.

All pieces are press/friction fit, you can use a few dabs of glue to hold the border plate in place if you feel it's necessary.

I printed in PLA+ because I am not in a super warm climate and where my gate is never gets direct sunlight, i may re-print it with ABS or ASA or something if i find it getting soft in the summer. You will want to choose your material accordingly.

(please forgive my poor router abilities, apparently I should have made the cover/border piece a bit bigger)
