Description

I designed this modular phone/camera arm which you can clamp on every surface!

I included 3 different sized for the clamp (Pt1_)(30 mm/1,18 inch - 40 mm/1,57 inch - 50 mm/1,97 inch).

Clamping mechanism for phones (65mm-90mm) and tablets (140mm-240mm), TPU insert for using phones and tablets (9mm thick) without a case.

Pt1_Phone_Holder, Pt2_Phone_holder, TPU insert = Pt3_Phone_Holder:

Pt1_Tablet_Holder, Pt2_Tablet_holder, TPU insert = Pt3_Phone_Holder:

For full modularity I made different lengths for the arm (Pt3_) (50-100-150-200-250-300mm)

This camera tripod is not only made for smartphones but also for cameras and video lamps, using M6 or 1/4in thread you can screw them on. (Camera_Holder_Tripod)

I also made a cold shoe adapter (Cold_Shoe_Tripod) and different new knobs for the ¼ bolts and nuts (Pt6-1-4in_Tripod)

To join all the parts together I used DIN933 M8 bolts and DIN934M8 nuts, the bolts are mostly 30 mm long (40mm long for the phone/tablet holder and for the bottom clamp 20mm long). For the camera holder I used DIN933 M6 bolts and DIN934 nuts.

For easy acces to the bolts I made some knobs in 4 sizes (see .3mf file).

Down here you can see some UPDATES for the camera arm (dd/mm/yyyy):

  • 08/05/2024: Wider knobs so it's easier to adjust (Pt6.4_M8_Tripod , Pt6.4_M6_Tripod , Pt6.4_1-4in_Tripod)
  • 11/05/2024: Tablet clamp (140mm-240mm)
¼ Thread camera holder and knobs
  • 27/10/2024: New clamp design (Pt1.2-30_Tripod, Pt1.2-40_Tripod and Pt1.2-50_Tripod) with a TPU insert (Pt1.2-TPU-Insert_Tripod) to make it anti-slip. Still not stable enough? Try using more walls and higher infill percentage. (See image below for more information)

  • 10/11/2024: New part called Pt2W_Tripod, specially designed to fit in a Workbench with holes of Ø20mm with a length of 40mm.

Hi :) Would it be possible for you to make an alternative version of the clamp? I.e not exactly clamp but rather a 20mm diameter cylinder post so that I can mount it on my workbench?

Hey, great idea! I will make work of it, I will send you here a screenshot (this week) of what I come up with when I designed something to be sure that I designed the right thing ;)

I came up with these designs. I think it's like the yellow one you mean right? How long needs the cylinder to be?

Could you please tell us the name of this part? I am not using Bamboo and do not seem to find it in your download list.

It is called "Phone_Holder_Tripod.STL" in the downloaded file.

Nice design, but not stable enough for my use. A small bump on the table has the end of the arm bobbing around.

It depends on how long the arm is, shorter pieces are much stronger then the longers ones and indeed don't bump on the table.. I will make a newer version where the all the pieces click into each other so you get a much stronger connection..

I think a lot of it has to do with the first connection to the clamp. The L shape lets it flex a good amount when loaded.

I will make an improved version of the L shaped clamp so it will hopefully be stronger. Thanks for the suggestion :)

I love your design, but I am not able to identify this part for the camera. What name is it?

Sorry to have bothered. I installed Bamboo Labs and could gather the STL from there. The missing part is not included in the "only STL" download link.

I'm very sorry that I forgot that part to include in the STL list, it's now added as "Phone_Holder_Tripod". Thanks for reporting this :)

@CE_YT I wish you had an exact part list, of how many bolts of each type?? Instead of just saying you use this m8 and this m8, and m6. Exact quantity would make this slot smoother. About to go shopping and still trying to figure that all out.

It's modular so which pieces you want to connect with each other? For every piece you need 1 bolt and 1 nut, mostly 30 mm long (DIN933 and only for the phone/tablet holder you need 40 mm long and the clamp 20 mm long) like I mentioned in the description.

Alrighty, Ive got all the bolts I'll need... At least I thought. . .am I supposed to print doubles/triples/quadruple of the handles? Cuz there's only one big handle and one small handle that fit the proper M8 bolt size.. that can't be right... Your model photo has at least five big handle knobs... I printed every plate that you uploaded, and I don't see where you say you need to print multiples of any parts... I don't know why this is so confusing to me. But yes I did read your post and it's entirety, hoping I can get it all fit together, cuz I used a good chunk of filament to do it... And am I supposed to glue that clamp pad onto the bolt?

Here you can see the clamp and also the section view. So 1 bolt and nut for the clamp (to clamp everything down on the table) and 1 shorter bolt and nut to hold part 2. And then for every arm (pt3) you need 1 bolt and nut. Plate 4 is an example, you can copy and paste the amount of parts need.

Super modular arm. I used it on the camera. I needed to make one more part to mount this cam, but the other parts were really great and saved me a lot of time.
