Description

Semi automatic disc shooter - fully 3D printed - no extra parts or glue required.

More of an engineering project than a simple toy.

Done as an engineering challenge and to show what can be done with 100% printed things, its also a lot of fun.  Last part of a series of shooting things.

Settings:

All done with 0.2mm layer and grid infill.

Plate1:  20% Infill - Support on build plate only, No brim - No raft

Plate2:  20% Infill - No supports - No brim - No raft

Plate3:  40% Infill - Supports everywhere - Brim - No raft

Plat4:  40% Infill - No supports - No brim - No raft

DSDiscPlate:  20% Infill - No supports - No brim - No raft

Note: If you have issues with the bolts fitting (all printers are different) you can resize Plate4 in your slicer and that should help.

Use a smooth build plate and PLA or PLA+

great design, super easy to put together, works way better than I excepted. I have been turning it sideways and shooting the disc on their side. The cats have been loving it.

A little scary first pulling the trigger but works great so I can't complain.

Thats interesting, PLA is more brittle but usually better for the spring, I am surprised PETG broke. If it was the trigger mechanism it may may been a layer adhesion issue,

Replying to @maunique :
I will try reinforce the string, It breaks in the tip, where it crashes the disk.

Amazing design, so many nice small ideas that turn it into a great model. For example the small hook to retain the disc even when the opening of the shooter is turned down. For some reason the infill for the screws was initially lower, so two of them broke during the first tryout. But that's clearly user error on my part. One thing that is surprising at first: shooting a disc is really loud. :D
