Description

Introducing the Magical Cubes - A Tensegrity Sculpture!

TL;NR: Just print two cubes (no support needed, easily connectable parts). Build both cubes and connect them with yarn. Voila!

Prepare to be enchanted by the magic of the Magical Cubes. No matter of their position, the upper cube appears to defy gravity, giving off an illusion of flight. Based on the principle of Tensegrity, these cubes are delicately connected by fine yarn, creating a mesmerizing visual spectacle that defies explanation. Photos simply cannot capture the true fascination of this sculpture. Accompanying the cubes is a sleek stand for easy display.

Constructing your own Magical Cubes is a breeze. Simply print at least two cube pieces (Plate 1) in your preferred colors. Then, gently interlock the four individual pieces without fully securing them. Build the second cube within the first, utilizing the diagonal holes at the corners of each cube for the yarn. Begin by connecting the centers, followed by at least four outer sides. Knot the end of the yarn to one cube, then press the components together firmly. Thread the yarn through the corresponding hole on the other cube and wrap it around the connection point. Once the desired length is achieved, securely fasten the connections. Voilà!

For added stability, the stand can be optionally stabilized with a drop of hot glue or a metal pin in the center, ensuring the lower cube remains in place. Experience the magic of our Magical Cubes and add a touch of enchantment to your home or office space!

Applying the threads was truly nerve-wracking, but it looks very cool. Thank you
