Description

I was tired of always loosing my remote so decided to invest in an apple airtag. Instead of just sticking it to the remote I figured I'd try and come up with a little bit more useful solution.

I've included 2 types of adapters and adapter profiles

The first is a universal adapter and should work on fire remotes that are 38mm wide. (thanks to laser_mike for the spec adjustment ideas)

The adapter slides onto the remote from the bottom up and is held on by tension.

To Print, orient so the adapter is standing on the bed vertically, with the airtag adapter side at the top. Enable tree supports and a good sized brim to prevent it from knocking loose.

The second adapter is designed specifically for adapters that are 148 mm long.

The adapter itself slides onto the remote from the bottom up. It's super snug getting on and taking off (sometimes taking the battery cover with it) so you might just need to be a bit careful when doing either. The adapter is designed so an airtag should be able to just snap in.

To print, orient so the bottom end is flat against the bed and the adapter is standing upright. You'll want tree supports and a brim.

happy printing

very thin at remote top and I dropped it once and the top 1.5” snapped off but still holds remote fine

I think because I have mainly carpet I've never ran into this problem but it's good to know! Would you suggest maybe thicker walls or perhaps just doing away with the upper 1.5" ? I'll need to experiment

you could do away with it or extend the side support walls to within 1/4”

I came here in a moment of desperation, having searched the family room for an hour for the stupid remote. I knew somebody out there had to’ve solved this same problem before me, and I wasn’t disappointed. Not only is the remote ever-findable now, I’m also making headway toward the goal of convincing my wife that the 3D printer isn’t just a toy. Thanks.
