Description

UPDATE: After reviewing some feedback I added a new version (Slim Version) of the spacer. This version's front lip that holds the phone is about 3mm longer and the actual portion the phone sits on has been trimmed down severely. With this version you can actually use the spacer for when you need to use the usb cable and also use wireless charging if you had that option. The fact that this model is slim allows most phones to directly still sit on the stock charging pad without having to remove the spacer. As with the original, the Slim Version does not require supports.

------

For those of us with phones that don't support wireless charging, we rely on USB-C cables. Tesla's phone tray does not really accommodate plugged in phones so this model creates the needed space to be able to use the space while charging.

Simply print and press-fit into the bottom of the tray area - it should fit snuggly. I drive like a maniac and have not had my phone fly out of the cradle (yet).

I recommend printing in ASA, ABS, PETG or any other filament that could withstand potential higher temps.

Other Issues:The height where the cord passes should have been increased, the phone does not stay in place, it slides

This design is very sleek, looks like it belongs in the tesla and fits very snug. I printed with no issues! However, I have the same issue as @sandman59 with phone falling out/sliding around. I'd love to see a remix with the outer front wall raised or the inner floor where the charging phone stands lowered. But also I'd like for the inner slanting wall to be non-existent so I can keep the charge spacer in if I want to use the contactless charger for my passenger's phone or even my own phone sometimes. Perhaps @sparqe will update the design :)

Happy to see you remixed the model as opposed to just downvoting - I don't make money off these designs and was sharing what had worked for my household's phones. I had been on holiday break from my electronics :) I did upload a new slim version that hopefully addresses your feedback - the new version can be used with and without cable for most phones I hope. Again, YMMV as I probably can't accommodate the design for every single phone dimension or use-case.

Model Y has not changed in 2024 so this is user error on your part. Others have had no problem with the profile or model.

I'm going to try printing your print profile again exactly as you have it, just as i did the first time and I will reply with the result.

fits QUITE SNUG, 1 or 2% downsizing wouldn’t hurt.

Great design, sucks when you have another phone which can be wirelessly charged it doesn't work, the phone I used was Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra so it is a bigger phone.

Ah sorry to hear that. Is it that the Samsung doesn't fit underneath or is it a length issue? You could try to scale it on the z axis only and see if that works...otherwise shoot me the measurements of the phone and I can see if I can spin up another version some time.

hey man, it would be great if you could make a half model, for one of the chargers instead of both.

Works okay but the phone almost slides out since the bottom is not deep enough. If I'm not using the cable to charge, the insert needs to be taken away each time for contactless charging. But it prints good and looks good.

bummer this didn't work for you - works for my phones no issues - but I did upload a new "slim" version based on feedback here and perhaps that works out better for you.

I’ve been having trouble with the wireless charger in my Model Y 2024. Tesla have replaced the wireless charger, but with no improvement. It works fine on the right side, but on the left side it stops charging after about 10 seconds. With this lifting my phone a tiny amount higher, it seems like the wireless charging works better! Both with my iPhone 15 and a Pixel-phone. Even though thats not the intention with this, I found it also helps for wireless charging for me. Thanks a lot!

Wow! That's definitely interesting as I would think the air gap would worsen the wireless charging. Either way, I'm glad my model helped for your situation! Thanks for the rating!

Would this also work for simply raising a phone up higher on the charging pad about half an inch?

the spacer is ~5/8" thick, so would raise the bottom of the phone that much off the pad. Given it would only raise the bottom of the phone, the center of the phone will be a bit closer to the pad while the top of the phone touches the pad. hope that helps
