Expansion Sets:

_______________________________________

This is a set of building block models that allow creation of custom bases or dioramas with Minecraft theme. It comes with a customizer program for creating your own grids of varying sizes. Blocks are hollow and uses minimal amount of filament just enough to make the blocks rigid.

Build your own custom bases and dioramas for the Minecraft mini figure kits!

PRINTING

  1. Print as oriented with no supports needed.
  2. Printer must be calibrated to get the best fit out of the printed parts. You may need to adjust your bed adhesion to minimize elephant's foot (elephant foot compensation), nozzle temperature and flow rate. Too hot or too much molten filament extruded causes layers to be wider which will affect fitment of the parts.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Elephant's foot (first layer too squished into the build plate) may cause the blocks to be tight. DO NOT REMOVE assembled blocks right away. Wait at least a day and due to material creep, the blocks will get loose over time.

ASSEMBLY

  1. Use the supplied plates of varying sizes as base to attach individual block pieces. You can also use the plates to connect/combine other plates to make bigger base plates.
  2. Combine tiles and blocks of varying heights to make a whole block.
  3. Print the same blocks and tiles using filaments of different types and colors to achieve a different look depending on the biome or terrain you're shooting for.

  4. Combine blocks, tiles and plates to make trees.

  5. Print individual blocks and tiles to make your custom base or generate your own grid by using the Customizer.

USING THE CUSTOMIZER

  1. Below the profiles list, click the Customize button.
  2. In the next dialog box that opens, select “Parts Grid Generator” and click Customize.
  3. Inside the Customizer window,  modify the parameters in the left panel. See Settings table below for reference on what can be customized
  4. Press the Generate button at the bottom of the left panel to preview your customized the design.
  5. Once satisfied with your nozzle dimensions, click Download.
  6. Import the downloaded STL file into your slicer, slice and print.

I had to print it twice, because there was a weird problem the first time. Otherwise, there were no issues, and be adhesion was great.

The fitment is too tight. Pieces cannot be removed after going together. I have an X1C with no other issues. I had to toss out all my first prints. After testing some small pieces multiple times, I adjusted the "X-Y Contour Compensation" with a negative number and tried -0.1mm and -0.15 mm. -0.13 seemed to be reasonable fitment but the problem is that when using multiple colors, the X-Y Contour Compensation cannot be used, so we are at the same problem. I increased the elephant foot compensation from 0.15 mm to 0.17 mm. What I tried in the mean time, is for all plates, I use a higher X - Y contour compensation of -0.15mm. I use -0.13mm for everything else. For multi color tiles, I scaled only the X and Y axis 101% so they would be a bit bigger, of course these will be wider. I will report back. The ultimate solution is to change the x-y contour compensation on the STLs to 0.13mm or so, or leave a larger (0.1mm) gap between all assembly parts. Thanks
