Description

Description

System for the magnetic connection of machines and fans with 150mm / 6 inch hoses. Can be used e.g. for laser cutters, soldering stations, welding work, vacuum cleaners, shop vacs or planers.

All connections and adapters are held together magnetically and are secured by guides to prevent accidental unscrewing. In addition, a TPU gasket is placed on all the fixed connection points to provide a better seal against dust and side air.

I personally use the system on my OMTech Co2 Laser with a big AC Infinity 6" inline Fan*, what works pretty well so far. I also designed an adapter to modify the OMTech Turbo 70W Laser. This may only fit this specific Laser but maybe useful for others to change and reuse it.

Magnets

Normal superglue and two types of magnets are required for assembly. I have made several attempts to find the best combination of magnets without the connection being too tight or too loose. Therefore two different types are needed:

  • In all fixed parts, 10x5mm magnets with a force of about 2.2 - 3.5kg. Example. *
  • In all moving parts 10x2.5mm magnets are used. Example. *

Each adapter takes six magnets. All models have been designed so that the magnets cannot touch each other. There is a gap of about 0.2mm between the magnets. This helps to prevent damage to the magnets and also compensates for any unevenness.

Assembly

For assembly, the magnets are simply glued into the holes. The wall pass-trough and the connection for the OMTech laser must also be glued together. The hoses are attached to the adapter with hose clamps.

The TPU Gasket is simply pressed into the models and holds without glue.

There is also a Template included in the model files, with which all holes for wall mount and wall pass-through can be easily made.

Printing

All files are very easy to print. Supports are required for some parts, e.g. for the wall mount with rear gasket or the holes for the magnets. Only the cover really needs a lot of supports. This is best printed with the outside facing upwards and then supported on the inside.

I have printed all models in PETG. The gasket is printed in soft TPU. The best way to do this is with the surface on a smooth printing plate, so that it lies nice and flat later on.

These parts printed nicely. I opted to mount the tabs vertically to make it easier to install the cover from reaching down and over. TPU gasket is a must. Even with the 6" pipe piece, I still had to install a metal vent pipe and use the orange fire resistant spray foam to air seal the gaps. The smaller magnets feel weak when installing the hose to the wall but they hold securely.

the file only shows the cover, it should be more plates correct?

What file? There are 10 Files, each containing one model as described.

I am only able to see the design for the door, and not the magnetized options. Is it possibly missing?

never mind I see the issue, if you open it directly to BambuStudio it only shows the cover, if you download the STL files it has all the files

Currently not, sorry. Maybe I'll make some hose adapters sometime.

Any chance you'd be open to sharing the .stp/.step files? I've printed the hose adapter and it fit great, but would like to print some adapters so I can go direct into my 6" piping. I need to enlarge the diameter that inserts into the hose/pipe by about an 1/8" to make it work and this would be much easier with the .step files. I'd be happy to post the final part as a remix, if not that's ok and I can print some adapter collars/bushings to make it work.
