IKEA Kapplake Light Fixture + Cord Manager Kit by David Bohn
Description- A vanity cover for the IKEA Kapplake Light to make it a puck light. This design allows the light to still have tap on/off.
Why did I make this? If you mount the IKEA Kapplake light they way they show you to (towards the back of your display case/shelf as to hide the power cord), I found that it will work fine for backlighting objects, but if you wish to show off anything, you would probably want to mount the light toward the center/front of the display case. So I made this. This design hides the wire with raceways, hides the drill hole, and focuses the light to turn the Kapplake light into a decent puck light. I hope this design is useful for containing and focusing light to showcase your items.
Materials: PLA/PETG and VHB adhesive. I used Matte PLA filament.
Supports: Yes. Keep orientation for better finish.
Fitment: Dimensions not working with your printer setup? ‘Select All’ in slicer and then set scale to something like 102-105%.
Directions TLDR: You can print out the 3MF file, no need to figure out which single STL files you need in this ‘kit’. Then I recommend dry-fitting your parts before putting adhesive on them. Mount the light first, then dry fit parts before sticking them down. Use a V-cut with a flush cutter or a hot knife to cut raceways to size. Don’t cut straight through.
Full directions after download. Cheers.
Pro tip- Use this design with 2x Kapplake lights, a philips hue plug, and a dual-usb charger plug, and you've got 2 levels of hue connected puck lights that can be programmed into your scenes!
