Description

Some variations of a RJ45 cap (8P8C)

You can select the variants over the print profiles.

There is one profile without brim and one with brim, if you have difficulties with bed adhesion.

  • caps labeled 1 to 48, ideal when swapping a complete switch or patch panel
  • blank cap without label as protection cover
  • cap with eyelet
  • cap with band (best to print in TPU)
  • RJ45-coupler (only for pulling, not for networking)

Nice box. Have you seen my dummy patchpanels? They are also quite handy for switch changing: https://makerworld.com/en/models/151040#profileId-164746

I used the no brim profile to print the blank cap which works well. The plate for this is marked coupler instead of blank cap and maybe the model should be reoriented on the plate so it prints without bridging like in the attached pic.

Thanks for your feedback, I just corrected the error with the wrong build plate name. As for the orientation, yes the blank cap can be printed both ways. But I preferred the opening down, so the little edge catching the plug is printed a bit cleaner. As the overhangs and bridges are quite small both ways, it doesn't really matter.

I just printed the caps with loops on the end. I volunteer with First Robotics and see RJ45 tabs broken off all the time. I thought these might be useful to prevent that. They printed well. they seem to be exactly what is needed. I love a clearly useful no frills print.

Hi, this is an awesome tool! Is it possible to create a forty-eight ports version? otherwise, i will print two sets with two distinct colors. thank you!!!

Hey, I uploaded a 48 ports version for the dummy switch panel, to you also need single caps labeled 1 to 48?

Done, just use one of my print profiles, on build plate two you will find a 1 to 48 version.

I Printed the caps with loops, but they are FAR to loose. Every single cable I tried they have simply fallen out. Printing on an X1c using the same standard settings. I'm trying a scale print and will reply later.

Sounds strange, could you test on of the other caps? Have you tested different cables? Maybe the cable/plug is a bit different design.

Printed these to help protect my cables clips while they are stowed in my work bag. Fit like a glove and my coworkers asked for their own! (the eyelet was a fan favorite)
