Description

I wanted more of the exact Bambu reusable spools with the holes from the factory so I 3D scanned one. The file i have uplaoded has bigger holes than the one you see in the picture to actually match the Bambu spool. I am going to print more with clear PETG to match the translucent ones from Bambu.

Just a note for anyone not familiar with the reusable spool. This print includes a spacing shim that is inserted into the center of the spool after the 2 sides are put together. It is used to prevent the spool from unintentionally opening (and getting filament all over the place). After you put the 2 sides together, the spacing shim should fit into an opening in the center of the spool. If it does not fit, the spool sides may not have locked into place and you might be able to turn them a little more and you should hear the click when they fully lock. The following is a sequence of pictures showing the shim through insertion.

Very nice design. printed it with PLA (no other filament available), but haven't tried it yet, as I'm waiting for delivery of 30KG of new filament! 🙈🤣 Printer: P1S + AMS Filament: Add North PLA Basic Thank you so much for the design!

what's those extra pieces in the pic?? Also what's the the one small piece that's like half inch and has a slight bend to it???

the small curved piece is used to lockout the spool after assembly, so they lockout in place. the "bolt" is to put through the spool Center, then put the "cone" in place and the nut to press and hold the spool in place. then use the umbraco tool that came with the printer to push through the bolt and firmly fasten your drill to the end stikking out of the end, and you're ready to spool! 😅👍 Can update with picture when I get home from work!

Where did you get 30kg of filament? Is it cheaper?

I really like the design but I can't print it. I tried 3 times and it failed every time...

I have printed over 100 of these. You give a bad rating because you don't understand printing? Kinda sad bruh.

Enlighten me then, what's the issue? Also 3 stars is not a bad rating... I liked how detailed the model was but I couldn't print it. I don't think that I did something wrong, simply because I didn't change anything in the print profile. I just washed my buildplate with warm water and soap and printed it via Handy app, it failed and I decided to give 3 stars. If you haven't noticed yet on this platform you are rating not only a model, but also a print profile. It worked for you? Great! Boost it and rate it with 5 stars, but don't ask me to do the same just because it worked for you 😂

ABS with holes for respooling
This printed great. I printed it out of ASA, and it was my first print using ASA so i had to tweak some settings to prevent wapring. I simply lowered the volumetric speed to 10, turned the cooling fans off except for overhangs which i set at 40% cooling, and increased the bed temp to 110C. After those changes, it printed perfectly.

I'll start printing ASA soon. What did you need to change to avoid warping? Won't the default setting work well?

I had some issues with the default settings. I think the low and wide geometry makes this print more susceptible to warping than most. I think the biggest change I made for ASA was maxing out the bed temp in an attempt to keep the chamber temp higher. This fixed my warping issues 100%.

PETG with holes for respooling
Printing these holes is not technically feasible It would be incredibly time-consuming and highly prone to errors

Another example of someone that doesn't know how to print giving someone else a bad rating because they are clueless. You don't add to the community, you detract from it.

If you don't like the holes there are plenty other spool options that others have made. This is a replica of the Bambu Spool.

Hey there, I think it's a bit unreasonable to scream at someone. The 3D printing community has always been built on community interaction and helping each other. Someone who is new to the hobby would have no reason to know that there is a solution to their problem. While it is not good conduct to give 1 star in this specific instance, there is a much better way to help educate them. The core of this community is built on collaboration and trust, and it would be much better for ensuring the communities continued great culture if you, rather than yelling, attempted to help someone learn. I understand that it is very difficult to stay calm when talking to people with less experience, but please remember that EVERYONE was a noob to 3D printing at some point, and the only way to learn is by having people help. Have a nice day!

Spool lock. Insert it down inside the hub to prevent the pieces from coming apart when loaded with filament. You can find these spool locks to print out and use with standard Bambu spools: https://makerworld.com/en/models/171292?from=search#profileId-188094.

Worked well with PETG and was exactly what I was looking for

What settings did you use? My first layer is not looking good, it clumped and had to cancel. I adjusted settings and so far it is looking better, we will see. Mainly having it go super slow but for one side it is sitting at 19 hours of print time. And advice would be appreciated cause yours looks like it came out nicely!

Thanks! So I'm using a clear Inland PETG+, 0.4mm nozzle, textured PEI plate, 15% gyroid infill with just the standard Generic PETG profile so ~5hrs per side (I did try the Bambu PETG Basic profile first which gave me a clumped first layer oddly). Especially for PETG, I did use the glue stick, dry the filament, and clean the bed (or I've flipped the plate) which seems to resolve a lot of weird first layers.

I would recomend that if you are using a textured plate to wash it with dish soap then wipe it down with alchohol and your prints should stick better. I don't know why this works but it does.

Was it printed on textured PEI plate? Also, how do you make that "PLA basic" mark? Is it printed with ams or am I missing something?

Bambu refills come with a sticker indicating the type of refill, which you can then stick onto the spool.

Sturdy, fits great(fits better then real bambu spools with refills to be honest! Is a mm or 2 thinner and the refills dont have a gap anymore), can't ask for better. Thank you!
