Elegoo Cardboard Adapter

After seeing the popularity of my Elegoo Sturdy Profile I made for another creator and seeing some people weren't happy with them not fitting all that great I decided to make a new adapter in my own style and added my filament clip posts.

Update 04.06.2024 - Decreased thickness and added an inner chamfer to the outer ring.

This model prints great but I had some issues with it. The barbed prongs make it difficult to remove from the cardboard spools without damaging both the spool and / or the adapter. The fitment was nice and likely does not need the barbs to secure them. I was also unable to use this with my AMS unit. The spool would actually hit the top cover when closed. When open, the spool would slip when trying to retract. Not sure if Elegoo may have changed their cardboard spools since ths was made.

The filament clip posts are purpose-built so the filament doesn't get unnecessary bends. It was not designed to be removed. I personally leave mine until the spools are done. While I got mine off without issue; they are meant to be disposable.

Thanks for that info. I guess i didnt realize it was meant to be disposable. Others I have printed simply have holes that line up with the cardboard or a couple pegs and can be easily swapped. Regardless I think elegoo may use different spools now or the pla pro may be different as it would not work in the AMS with these. I was going to try and reprint with fuzzy skin for added traction on retract until I realized the spool would not move when the lid was closed

Thanks for information. When I make my next order, I will toss a roll of pro in and put out a revision for pro specifically.

It prints well, but it would be nice if it was a little bit thicker and all the layers were not just circles. This makes it prone to splitting along the layer lines while trying to pull it off, which is really hard because the pins hold on like a crazy ex.

Rings are meant to be disposable. It's actually hard to go thicker without going past the point where it fits in an AMS. I'll look into this more once I am done with a project I have going.
