Description

Disclaimer

This saddle design is according to the TBIS-004 which is a Taiwan bicycle saddle strength standard.Third-party testing confirms the saddle withstands:

  • 200,000 cycles of 1000N bending pressure
  • 1400N impact test
  • 400N tensile test

Important

Make sure that you have removed the restriction on mixed printing of high and low temperature filaments.

Before you print, apply a thin coat of glue stick, and dry your filament.

This Multi-material Bike Saddle is printed using Bambu Lab H2D, leveraging its dual-nozzle system to combine high-performance PAHT-CF and soft TPU 95A HF to achieve both durability and cushioning comfort. This saddle is installed on a bike by a 7*7 chromium molybdenum steel Bike Saddle Rail and M4x10 BHCS Machine Screws. Bill of Materials and Assembly Guide can be found at the bottom of this page.

With updated beam-interlocking function in Bambu Studio, PAHT-CF and TPU are interlocked tightly layer by layer to create a secure bond, resolving the issue where filaments with significantly different properties cannot be bonded with glue.

TPU cushioning section employs updated Zig Zag sparse infill pattern in Bambu Studio, achieving a soft yet supportive cushion by optimizing sparse infill density.

For high-performance PAHT-CF part,we design according to the TBIS-004 which is a Taiwan bicycle saddle strength standard.Third-party testing confirms the saddle withstands:

  • 200,000 cycles of 1000N bending pressure
  • 1400N impact test
  • 400N tensile test

As this saddle is downloadable and individual users can print it with their own choice of filament and printer, neither I nor MakerWorld can guarantee the safety of any individual saddle printed using this file. Printing or using this saddle is at your own personal risk. The testing is only applicable to saddles printed with the correct filaments and under perfect printing conditions. It serves as a reference for the safety of this design. This project merely demonstrates a design process that extends the capabilities of FFF printing.

I urge all enthusiastic makers to heed the warning in the final paragraph I regret having to say this, but marketing hype, legal and insurance regulations, and standard testing are non-negotiable Much more will come our way if we do not proceed responsibly and selectively filter what we actually want to and are allowed to use Not everything that is possible is also permissible or sensible Insurers are just waiting for something like this to wriggle out of responsibility And depending on the country you live in, there are legal regulations governing which standards a component must meet and which testing processes a series of components must undergo If it does not meet these standards, even if you are not at fault in an accident, depending on the legislation, you will be deemed partially culpable I hate to be a spoilsport, so consider this a suggestion, not a lecture

Agreed, not worth risking a bad crash for this.

PETG probably won't hold up, will it? Or PETG CF?

Considering the strength of PETG, this is likely not going to work.

The reinforced one? Which filament could be used to print it with the A1?

I will probably open myself up to a ton of hate mail for saying this, but in my sole opinion, this model demonstrates the saying, "Just because you can doesn't mean you should." There is no way in Hades that I would print a seat, put it on my ebike and then take it for a ride. If it fails, you're libel to get a colonoscopy from the bike's seat post, and that is not something I would open myself up to (no pun intended). I would not print anything for my bike that wasn't purely cosmetic in nature - I value my life and, even more importantly, my health to take that sort of chance. Not to mention the welfare of others who may be harmed in the event of an accident.

I think Bambu are being very irresponsible using stuff like this and cycling helmets in their promotional material, even if the design was tested, there are too many variables at play that mean your print isn't necessarily going to perform the same. Yes the concept is cool, but practically this kind of stuff should be left to the industrial sector.

can it be printed using x1c with cycling fillament and putting tpu in ams?

it can‘t be printed by X1C,because of the temperature difference between paht and tpu.

Thing is the difference of temperature to print PAHT-CF and TPU is too drastic causing bad prints. Its like using the same temperature to melt metal and cook an egg. The metal will be ok but your egg will be burnt and a mess.
