Description

This is a case and drawers that can be placed on top of a surface or mounted on a multiboard. There are an improvement over my previous design (https://makerworld.com/en/models/739632)

The cases and drawers come in 2x2, 3x2, 4x2, 4x3 and 5x3 sizes. Let me know if you would like a larger size.

The drawers are compatible with gridfinity with a height of 6 units. There are 3 types of drawers: hex walls with gridfinity bottom, filled walls with gridfinity bottom, and filled walls and flat bottom. You can choose the one that adapts best to your needs. I have added a gridfinity flat add-on to place at the bottom of the gridfinity grid to turn into into a flat-bottomed one.

The cases are in two types: hex walls and filled walls.

All cases come with gridfinity feet and top, which means you can place gridfinity bins on top, or you can stack cases easily. The cases have a small lip in each shelf that stops the drawers from falling off when fully open. You need to tilt the drawers slightly up to insert/remove them.

The cases can be mounted on a wall using multiboard. Use the multiconnect for multiboard  (https://makerworld.com/en/models/790825). I recommend that you use an extra multiconnect to prop the bottom. This has two advantages: it makes the connection studier, and it tilts the bins slightly backwards, helping to keep the drawers in place.

How to print

If you want to print the hex cases and drawers you can minimize stringing by drying your filament. All items print well in a modern 3d printer.

I have placed each item in its own plate. You need to decide which size of case to use and choose what to print accordingly. The drawers can also be used as simple carriers of gridfinity bins.

You can find other multiboard and gridfinity models by me here: https://makerworld.com/en/collections/4226278-by-tuo-mu-g-for-multiboard

Acknowledgements

This model was inspired by the original Gridfinity Modular Drawer system by Chipp Walters (https://www.printables.com/model/300896-gridfinity-modular-drawer-system). I believe the 5x3 case can be stacked with his design. His model is height 5 units, while these are size 6.

Easy print, I've used petg.

Giving the smaller hexagon-side one a print now in PETG, looking pretty good so far though! The hexagons always stress me out, especially with PETG... curling overhangs, retraction nightmares... It does seem like the hexagons rotated so the top is flat (like yours) prints easier do to no extreme 30° overhangs when the hexagon is point up. Any chance of a handle design that would allow a 3d printed label as well?

Well, sadly the bottom grid pieces (which are printed vertically in the print) have some terrible overhangs & long bridges which my Sunlu PETG does not like. Looking no bueno - I don't know how you would fix that without supports, but I can't imagine that overhang with 90° turns in midair would really work? (this was with Inner/Outer wall order, 3 walls, 250° temperature, 10mm/s overhang speed, 20mm/s bridging)

Good idea but the drawers need bottom, not holes for things to fall through

There are two options for that use case. They are available in the 3MF files and individually as STL files. 1. There are solid drawers, with no holes at all 2. There is a grifinity plate that can be printed (4x4) that can be placed on the grid to cover the holes.

Hey! I absolutely love this design, is there any chance of getting a 4x4x6 set that's printable on the A1 mini? Thanks
