Description

As designers, chances are, you’ve encountered the classic client demand: 'I want it cheap, fast, and good.' We all know that’s as realistic as finding a unicorn. But fear not! Here’s the ultimate solution: a clever mechanism that spells it out—two out of three is the best they’re getting. Now your client can decide: cheap and fast, fast and good, or good and cheap. All three? Only in their wildest dreams. Save yourself the headache and let the client do the choosing!.

Here’s the Cheap and Good version (definitely not Fast) of the Fast-Cheap-Good card. I’ve tried to incorporate all your feedback, along with a few ideas of my own:

  • Simplified mechanism. It has fewer options, but it’s more predictable.
  • Clicks. This is essential.
  • “Almost” print in place. I know you’ve got clumsy fingers, so the less assembly required, the better.
  • Zero glue. So you won’t complain later when your fingers get stuck.
  • A super compact version so you can use it as a keychain.

Overall, it’s more satisfying, reliable, and predictable. Right out of the print bed, you might need to unclip the switches, but with a bit of pressure, they come loose easily. This is especially important for the compact version — in the regular size, it shouldn’t be necessary.

Enjoy!

Sadly, all three of them can’t go all the way down without it breaking but otherwise really good

Hi! My previous version allows the disengagement of the three, but I think this way is a bit more reliable and much more satisfying. You can give it a try if you want! It's on my profile

It's the white part of the mechanism. if you open the black part those won't be floating. Just do it with the same coordinates, though

Very nice design, a little slop in the switching of the toggles.

Some compromises had to be taken to achieve something print in place and clicky! Although works fine if you pull the switches till the end

The switching mechanism does not really work, but it does look great

Love those colours! Is it not working at all? Should work at least once you engage two at the same time
