Description

I needed a storage system for small spare parts like screws, magnets, electronic components etc. And I collect the card board boxes of my filament orders, because “… you never know when you gonna need them…” :)

The original gridfinity uses a 42 mm grid, that does not fit well into the cardboard boxes of bambu filament WITH SPOOL… Yes, with spool! Because these boxes are bigger than those of bambu filament refill packs without spools…

I changed the grid size, experimented with different heights until I found a working combination of “full height” (=full cardboard box height) and half height boxes, together with a base grid. You can combine in one cardboard box full height inserts next to two layers of half height inserts, as you like… My print profile is tested and includes all possible inserts (but a 5x5 box… but why would you need that one, you could just use the cardboard box as it is…). I cahnged the corner round to make grabbing small peaces out of the inserts easier…

Try for yourself and tell me, if something not works out for you…

Great, I also made some filament box compartments, but unfortunately I just received this today, soon there will be no more repurposing of Bambulab boxes 😥

I always try to reuse my filament boxes but this takes it to the next level. So wonderful to be able to organize small items. I expect to be making other versions of this in the future.

This is great! I have a bunch of Bambu Filament refill boxes which are a bit smaller. I reduced the size by 0.9525 and got a good fit. Thanks!

Another idea would be to design a label that can be inserted or clicked on top, so one immediately knows what is in the bowl Then, perhaps, an additional labeling option on the outside to indicate the contents of the box

I’ve been printing the crap out of these, I would love a low material version, I’m just using this to sort stuff in

I love these! I keep both sizes of boxes so what do you recommend for using for those? do you have a size % decrease that works well?

In Bambu Studio, go to the sizing drop down menu. Measure your box in the X direction. Input this number (minus a few millimeters for clearance) into the X size box. It will automatically scale every other direction as long as you have the "uniform scale" box checked. Note the percentage change. Apply this percentage to all the trays.
