Description

Kabutops#141

It was able to swim quickly through the water by compactly folding up its razor-sharp sickles” ~Pokemon Crystal Pokedex entry

Looks like while you were digging for fossils you found a complete Kabutops Skeleton! Now all that's left to do is clean up the bones (remove supports and links) and put them together. Luckily, you found directions to assemble ancient pokemon skeletons in the archives of the Cinnabar Island Lab (I've included assembly instructions here).

This kit card contains a full Kabutops skeleton ready for assembly. The interface slots have been tested and tolerances have been adjusted so that the pieces should slide into each other and hold without glue. The model has also been balanced so that it can stand upright when fully constructed. This model is also only one color so no AMS is required (I used Stone PLA and Brown PLA and both turned out really nice!). I've included a second print profile for spare parts (non-kit-card)

Bruddz I want to say thank you for improving the structure and stuff, got some glue and fixed it, took somewhere between 2-3 to minutes with the glue due to the arm gaps when connecting to the body frame on the shoulders, but I was able to get it there and hold it there for a little bit but now it’s perfect. I will in the future down the road print another one gotta have 2 and the 2 images is the before with issues and after with glue perfection

I was able to identify a lot of the root issues with the tolerences, I'll upload a fixed version as soon as I can

Made this one for my son. It printed well but the arms and legs definitely need to fit more tightly as they fall off the second you bump the model or even pick it up. I am going to super glue it together so my son can display it without it falling apart and the pieces going everywhere but will have to be super careful as it won’t stand up on its own if the pieces aren’t placed exactly right. any chance we could get tighter tolerances for the arms and legs in the future?

Thank you for the feedback! I'll try to provide a tighter tolerance version in the next week or two

Wow that glow in the dark looks great! Which pieces did you have to glue together?

Thanks. I had to glue the back pieces, the head. the shoulders onto the spine. the hips to the spine. the rest was fine for me but I still glued every piece just to really stablize it. here is pic of the pieces that are a solid connection for me.

printed great, however, I wish the tolerences on the legs and the arms were tighter, as I had to use hot glue for this, the head connector didn’t allow it to wobble left and right, as I had to fill the empty space with hot glue to prevent this, and it doesn’t stand properly. Aside from all this however, I love this model. It looks incredibly cool and would make a great gift to someone who likes pokemon.

Glad to hear it's working now! Out of curiosity what filament did you use for the first and second print? And did you print the kit card profile or spare parts profile?

Came out great don't mind the moisture I just washed the display off. Cloche from Ikea really makes it shine. https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/begavning-glass-dome-with-base-70343938/
