Description

Window Bird Feeder – Easy Clean & One-Plate Print

This window bird feeder features a removable drawer for quick refilling and easy cleaning. After several iterations, I refined the design to balance functionality and simplicity, and I’m really happy with how this version works.

Key Features:

Secure Window Attachment – Uses 10mm and 40mm tape (or double up the 10mm) for a clean and firm install.
Clear Viewing Window – Large back panel provides an unobstructed view of visiting birds.
Efficient One-Plate Print – Designed to be printed in two colors while minimizing filament waste.
Color Change by Line, Not Layer – Allows for efficient filament use and easy customization.

Printing Tips:

  • Recommended 0.2mm layer height for best results.
  • 15% offers a good balance of strength and filament use.
  • Use PLA or PETG for durability.
  • Wash the plate with dish soap as usual before printing

Nice print, I look forward to getting it up on the window. Little fit of filing on the holding plate but nothing major. Thanks!

That looks ace, thanks for sharing. Can I ask what you had to file and the material used? I can see if it needs a tweak.

Id love a version that uses suction cups instead of tape on the glass. I imagine the tape would become hard to remove.

I could maybe add these on. I wanted to avoid the suction cups, but can see how people would want that option. Thanks.

Would certainly be interesting as a birdhouse

hmm, I wonder if I put a front on it if that would work as a birdhouse?

Thanks. We’ve had birds, a rogue squirrel but not spotted a mouse or rat so far 😊

Great design. Mine was a little tight and the drawer plate and bracket didn’t align right drawer split at 2 layer points. Nothing a little sanding and CA Glue couldn’t fix. The troubles which were probably caused by user error, haven’t clocked many hours on my A1, but have been in the game nearly a decade. looked to me the temp was too high and there was some adhesion separation on a corner or two. Heat expands things, so cooling does the opposite, thus the lifting and misaligned holes.

Thanks for the feedback—really glad to hear you liked the design! I did notice the 3-star rating, which was a little surprising if it might have been a user issue, so I wanted to jump in and try to help. In my profile, the drawer includes three walls specifically to prevent warping. Just wondering—did you modify that part? With only two walls, it might not hold up as well, but with three I’ve had consistent success across multiple prints. If there’s anything I can improve, I’m always open to tweaking the design. I haven’t experienced any warping myself, but I’d recommend adding a brim and making sure the print bed is really clean. If you're using an A1, extra cooling might also be a factor—so those adjustments could make a difference.Hope that helps, and happy printing!
