Greetings everyone I am thrilled to present my latest glider model V2 After several weeks of development refining and overcoming setbacks I have finally achieved the desired result A glider that is easy to print simple to assemble and most importantly highly efficient in flight
I completely redesigned the model following version 1 which proved overly complex to adjust and fly I redrew all the parts to enhance accessibility and took the opportunity to improve its flight performance
This glider comprises various interlocking components fitted onto the main chassis and secured using filament pieces The tail and wings are attached in this manner while the nose is fixed with a rubber band The use of PLA Basic is strongly recommended Avoid PLA Silk as it is too brittle The wings being too long to be created in a single piece are composed of two fitted and glued parts The tail assembly is similarly glued to the tail I opted for this type of assembly after experiencing several breakages during testing which necessitated reprinting the entire aircraft for a single broken wing This system also allows you to disassemble your glider for easy transport and to have spare parts on hand for outings primarily wings to account for collisions with trees
The front section is modular consisting of a stack of spacers and washers attached to the chassis with a rubber band This ensures perfect aircraft balance without disassembly It allows you to grasp the fundamentals of free flight and physics while maintaining a perfectly balanced glider This assembly also allows for slight nose weighting when the wind picks up
To assist in this crucial step you can print the balancing stand Notches are provided in the wings for optimal placement I have also included a small fitting to glue onto the top of the chassis allowing for suspension decoration or storage It is positioned at the center of gravity and also facilitates balancing with a simple piece of string Ideal for quick balancing in a field
As usual you will find all the assembly steps in a detailed instruction manual
You will need a tube of glue and a rubber band for assembly
The dimensions of this glider 800mm wingspan and its flight capabilities preclude indoor use unless you live in a gymnasium Avoid congested areas The aircraft is relatively robust for a PLA print I have never broken one on landing despite launches by young children however I have broken about fifteen on trees cars mine or a trampoline
Have fun
