Description

For the kitchen, we have these very good silicone spatulas.  They're stiff, yet flexible where it counts.  The handle has been a problem, it snaps under reasonable use.  So, to keep using the silicone spatula, I designed and 3D printed a new handle, with success.

The spatula handle is 130mm to the top of the tang and 12mm thick.  The tang size is 17x4.5x37mm.

A performance consideration was that it had to be able to withstand temperatures found in a dishwasher.  I went with Poly Carbonate with a deflection of about 115C.

If you are wondering whether PETG will survive a dishwasher (at least mine), see included photo of the PETG distorted handle.

My print is made in 1.75mm Bambu Lab PC Clear Black filament, with 0.2mm layer height on a Bambu X1 Carbon printer.  Print supports are required.  Part is by default orientated in the way I printed it on the print bed, which should give it maximum strength.

Both a print profiles and the individual STL files are included.

I hope that you can find this print useful, too. If so, you can support my work by buying me a coffee …

Remember to leave me some feedback or even a tip to keep me enthused to make more of these drawings.

Thanks for taking an interest in my handle design. The tang is 17x4.5x37mm. I will update the description to include that specification.
