Description

Here is a steampunk style shelf support bracket.  The model consists of pipe pieces just like metal ones, but without the cost!  The only tricky part of the assembly is getting the final pipe in the triangle in place.  To do that I first made sure any remnants of the brim were removed from the end of the pipe.  Assemble two sides of the triangle. but don't turn the pipe all the way in.  Then take the last piece of pipe and screw it all the way into one end, swing the other end into place and screw the pipe into it.  Finally, adjust the pipes as necessary.

looks awesome! as someone who installs these parts for a living I would recommend putting a union somewhere in the design for a significantly easier assembly. wouldn't look as clean, but would prevent people giving your design a low rating even though it is in fact pretty cool

or possibly better yet, make one piece reverse thread to help with assembly

Thanks for the ideas! If people would read my description they'd have a lot easier time putting it together. Unlike real pipe, the threads aren't tapered. So screwing one end in all the way and then backing it out into the other end can be done by hand without much effort. I'm an arthritic old man and don't have any problem doing it.

Hello Your design is great. But I had a lot of trouble in assembly. I have an easy way to do this. Related to printer settings. During assembly Some pieces broke.

Could I ask what filament you have used as I was looking for some in that bronze colour?

This was the most difficult to assemble and annoying project. pieces kept breaking because the angles you have to screw them in at are so awkward and difficult. do not print this

If you use it as a shelf, what type of shelf material would you recommend? If you anchor it to a stud, how much weight will it support?

I attached to a stud, but I don;t know how much weight it will hold. Shel material is up to you. I'm toying with the idea of making one that can be printed and assembled to look like a metal mesh.
