After a lot of work with @JaminCollins we are ready to release the cartographer for the K2 Plus!
If you would like to support my efforts, buy me a beer. I want to keep my projects free, and your support helps me do so.
Getting this all up and running was a huge undertaking and without JaminCollins would never have happened. Please also support his efforts.
The mount requires M2.6x20 screws which you can find here. I have been unable to source these locally as they are an unusual screw. DO NOT try to use normal screws, you will destroy the threading on your print head.
Recommended material is ABS or ASA followed by PETG. Remember this will be sitting right next to your extruder in a potentially heated chamber, so you need something with a higher glass transition temperature than PLA.
In the provided 3mf, there are 2 mounts which are labelled. You only need to print one. One is if you want to used heat inserts such as https://amzn.to/4gQlvhg. The other is self tapping (you can just screw straight into it). ONLY use the screws which came with your carto.
At this time, when using the carto, you will not be able to put the original tool head cover back on. This cover is only cosmetic, so it will not impact anything to remove it, and I expect someone will design a solution you can implement later. But I don't care about having it covered and thus not investing the time to do so. I have included the STEP file so that anyone who wants to take this route can modify my design to fit their needs. If you do so, DO NOT move the carto any closer to the nozzle. In our testing this was as close as we could get it without putting metal into the no metal zone.
There are also 2 spacers in the 3mf. These slip over the rails on the left and right side to ensure the carto doesn't run into the door. You MUST use these spacers our you WILL damage your carto and printer door.
Finally, there is a new shroud included. This shroud, and indeed the dimensions used for the mount came from Gong's Cover, so huge shout out to them for the original. The shroud will also come with it the need for 4 6x3 neodymium magnets. This shroud will ultimately come in 4 primary options.
