I originally designed this as a green waste bin for our kitchen, but then my partner saw this and said she wanted one with a different lid design to store her knitting in. Porque no los dos?
Boost Me (for free)
I would really appreciate a boost if you like this project. It really helps support me creating new designs for you all. Big projects like this take a lot of time and generally don't get as many downloads. If I get enough boosts I will also release the smaller version!
Rubbish Bag Holder*
*Rubbish Bag holder only works with the lift up lid. It does not work with the Swing lid as the lid hits it, or I would have had to the usable space inside the bin much smaller to make it work.
I've uploaded a few different combination sets eg different bases with different lids, but I've also uploaded the parts individually and also a file with everything in it.
Assembly is only required if you choose to print the profile with the handle, or if you print the lid inner separately to the lid outer.
There are two Spheres on the outer, and cavities on the inner, just flex these into place and you're done.
This has the same snaps as above, but it also has snaps on the other edges also. Again this can easily be flexed into place and is very self explanatory.
Handle to Body:
The handle is designed to snap into place into the body. I found it easiest to flip the body upside down so its opening is facing down, and then gently align the handle and push it into place. I haven't has a single failure yet on these and did prototype 5 different versions of this “Snap” to get it working well, but still be printable without support.
The boss should slide past that snap, and then sit in that cavity.
As per the gif and image, in order for the spinning lid to level itself, it needs some weight in the base. To achieve this I thought it would be cool to fill it with printer poop. As such the profiles has a specific pause in them so that you can fill it with poop to add a little extra weight. If I'm honest, it would probably work fine without the poop, but its a good use of mixed poop in my mind.
When Slicing the lids a support required warning comes up. This is just for some very small bridged surface for the snapping detail. Supports in that are are not required, or recommended. Support at your own risk!
If you like this Project, I would really appreciate a like, follow collect and boost. Also if you could check out my other projects, I'm sure you will find another project that you love!
