Description

I'm excited to present the Drill Dust Collector V3! This fully 3D-printed tool boasts a versatile 3-in-1 modular design and a striking two-tone look for maximum effectiveness. Building on the V2 design, I've implemented several key improvements:

  • Modular 3-in-1 System: Adapts to any drilling task.
  • Integrated Dust Bottle: Screws directly onto the collector for on-the-spot dust capture, perfect for mobile projects and heavy drilling. The bottle base is designed for stability.
  • Vacuum Adapter: Connects to standard Ø32mm vacuum hoses for instant, thorough cleanup.
  • Sealing Cap: Keeps dust contained when not using other attachments, ideal for small jobs.
  • Distinctive Two-Tone Design: Highlights the centering slots and the now-larger 19mm central hole for enhanced visibility and a more professional look.
  • Reinforced Wings: Thicker side wings provide a secure and comfortable grip.

Printing Recommendations:

  • Material: PETG
  • Infill: 25%
  • Layer Height: 0.20mm / 0.25mm (for faster prints)
  • Cooling: 80-100% for bridging
  • Support: Organic, 20-30° overhang (adjust based on your printer)
  • Infill Angle: 0° (for a smooth, vertical finish that aids dust removal)
  • Color Change: Pause at layer 9 (0.25mm layers) or layer 11 (0.20mm layers)

At the end of the print, I recommend carefully cleaning the supports because the presence of small residues in the thread can cause the accessory to get stuck. Once this is done, screw and unscrew the bottle several times to adapt the thread and you're done.

I hope you enjoy this project and I can't wait to see your color variations!

Update 22/02/2025:
I've added two adapters for the vacuum cleaner as requested by some followers. One with a diameter of Ø29mm and one with a diameter of Ø35mm.

Here are all the iterations that led to the final design:

Happy printing!

this upper part (green line) is broken after the print finished, before i even use it. i used original Bambu PETG HF filament ( maybe its to fast ? ) or maybe the model needs little thicker layer in this part ?

This is a classic problem with HF filament if you have very small layers, like the final part of a model. Basically, it doesn't have time to cool down before the nozzle passes over it with more hot filament, and therefore you have this problem. I recommend at this point to set the fan to maximum and slow down the print a bit, doing so allows the deposited filament to cool down properly.

i am new in the 3D print world so thanks for advices, so basically if i slow down whole print leta say to 50% the HF will manage that and it will be stronger? or you recommand just some kind of local speed change dor the last part ?

It's better to slow down only in the part where you have the problem, measure with the ruler so you know at what height you need to set the changes.

I really liked the idea. But I get this error which I am not sure what it is. I get the error when I place the object on the plate and even though I have used only one filament it is still somehow detects other filaments needed.
