I have created a remix of a fantastic model. The original model is a Gridfinity-compatible storage box for tape rolls, equipped with two internal holders to securely keep various roll sizes. Even as the tape rolls get smaller, the box remains practical and functional.
I have adapted the model to better suit my needs. Here are the details of my modifications:
The original model was designed for a 2 x 3 Gridfinity field. Unfortunately, my tape rolls were too large to fit this format. Therefore, I had to expand the size to a 3 x 3 Gridfinity field.
However, I did not want to unnecessarily increase the base area of the box. To solve this, I offset the model by 0.5 Gridfinity units, so it now consists of two narrow strips (each 0.5 x 3) and a wider strip (1 x 3). This allows the box to fit perfectly in the center of a 3 x 3 Gridfinity field without wasting space.
The idea behind this modification was to expand the functionality of the model without unnecessarily increasing the base area. The 0.5-unit offset allows for optimal placement in a 3 x 3 Gridfinity setup, which is particularly practical when storing larger tape rolls.
If you have similar requirements, you can try my remix! I welcome feedback and images if you print and use the model. It is always exciting to see how other makers use and perhaps even further develop my adaptations.
Have fun printing and organizing your workshop with Gridfinity! 😊
