Description
A jeep duck to join your ducks in your jeep. Inspired by other Jeep ducks.
This is the one the started it all, and it the basic duck that I build off all my other ducks. From the original duck the following changes have been made:
- removed the backpack and shoulder straps
- raised the head, extending the neck
- added chubby cheeks
- separated the beak to allow for printing it separately (prevent interface garbage from supports). This includes creating a Boolean cut of the beak out of the head (slightly scaled to allow for easier fit)
- added a 2 mm hole in the beak to mount on a toothpick for easier painting
- made a hole in the bottom for mounting on stands (so they don't tumble while in my jeep)
- Created alternate wings (angled front and back, though this print only has them back)
- smoothed and cleaned up lower curves to better print in PETG
- Boolean cut a flatter bottom of the model creating a ‘floor’ for printing it as well as accessories at the right heights to attach.
- general optimizing of the mesh parts to reduce face count without reducing quality.
Recommend that you print in PETG if you intend to place in your car and have your car get over 40 degrees Celsius (105 Fahrenheit) in the summer sun.
If (acrylic) painting, like I do, you can get an automotive clear coat to spray over the paint so it does not scratch off, but not required if they sit on your dash without being handled. I got mine at Canadian Tire for $30 (CND) and can withstand temps of over 200 degrees Celsius.
