Description

I designed an adapter for the original Bambulab A1 spool holder for using it on the desk if there ist not enough space on top of your A1 or you don´t want that extra weight on top.

01.01.2024

There is an update, a version with an integrated wall mount!

https://makerworld.com/de/models/118067#profileId-126935

Simply clip your supplied spool holder to the printed stand and place it near the printer. The supplied PTFE tube is to short for placing the spool holder beside the printer, so i simply disconnect one of the four tubes at the ams lite and use it transitionally for the spool holder.

You can also buy a new PTFE tube like this one https://amzn.to/47bYVuz (affiliate link) and cut it to the needed length.

Please let me know if you have suggestions for improvement, happy printing :-)

unfortunately did not work for me as bambu lab have updated their mounts to 1mm wider which is a shame

Confirmed, but a light sanding will suffice to slightly enlarge the space

I uploaded a new print profile that is updated for the new spool holder

This works perfect as a wall mount once the screw holes are added. I've also made an adapter to help as the spool binds on the guide when wall mounted.

Thank you for posting your make. For mounting on the wall you can find another solution in my uploads.

Replying to @Robbicon :
I treid the wall mount but found it a little unstable on the wall. I feel more comfortable with the desk mount as a wall mount having 4 ancor points.

Where did you get the extension for the PTFE tube swivel? I've been looking everywhere for something like that and haven't found anything.

Updated print profile for new spool holder, 1 mm wider
It functions perfectly, but care must be taken with the profile when printing, ensuring the correct width. I almost printed the 36mm wide version when my bed is 37mm. Printed with Bambulab white PLA Basic. I used supports, but I'm confident it works without them as well

Yes, this prints perfectly with bridging so no need for supports

My recommendation 0.2mm layer, 3 walls, 15% infill
Love this design, thank you! I'll boost when I get another one. 🙂 I wanted the top layer to look smoother, so printed mine using 0.08 extra fine setting, plus allowed support. However, this used grid infill and caused some quality issues on the slope with the top layer. I think gyroid infill would have helped with this, since that's the default for 0.08 high quality. I'm all out of this color, so won't try printing again.

I absolutely love this thing. Great design, keeps an awesome part from being useless for AMS users. I now have a 'deployable' filament spool for any of my multiple printers. Combos very well with this model that adds a bearing arm: https://makerworld.com/en/models/112628

It's convenient to be able to create a place for the spool
