Description

Summary

The goal for this insert was to make setup super quick and fit sleeved cards!

  • Every captain has their own labeled tray which holds their cards and ships.
  • Resources have trays to set in middle of table.
  • 2 Player Trays which hold everything specific to the player: cubes, Mission Completion tokens, Away Team tokens, x5 Resource tokens, and Action tokens.
  • Common card tray is labeled with easy-to-fit fingers in to remove.
  • Market Strip stays assembled in ridged holder. (the puzzle fitting is chintzy)

Compatibility

➖ Expansions

There are no expansions. Does fit promo.

✔️ Sleeved Cards

Comfortably fits 100-micron sleeves for all deckbuilding (held in hand) cards. Stardate 2-player cards can be sleeved as well.

Exhaust tokens are available here.

Special Notes

  • There are 2 different token trays, one with 2 wells and one with 3 wells (for Exhaust tokens). There are 2 different Market Strips, one with holes and one without. Choose which of each you want and delete/skip the other on those plates (otherwise, you'll end up printing both).
  • Solo cards fit in their own tray under the common cards tray (Tarot sized will not fit sleeves).
  • Ships are removed from their stands for storing—the only compromise I made to make everything else easier for setup.
  • Captain trays and Common Card tray come labeled, but it can be printed without a second color.  (If printing in single-color, I recommend a lighter color to be able to read the labels)
  • Does not fit score pad (I use BGstats app for all game scorepads). If you need the included score sheet, I recommend keeping 1 laminated copy in the box.

Very well done insert. Looks amazing printed in Flashforge Galaxy Matte Black and Bambu Basic Light Grey!

Insert is printed and feels fantastic! Used Bambu Matte PLA Ivory White for the light color and Bambu Basic PLA Black for the darker.

This system is incredible. Holds everything in such a well thought out way. I used Sunlu PLA + black and orange. I updated to 25% from 10% infill since my first print of the captain's holders split at the top of 3 of them. I also expanded the stardate card holder since it did not fit the cards with sleeves but I made it a little too big. still functional and very cool.

I know it's not shown in the picture, but would both sizes of the solo cards fit if they were to be sleeved? Could this be printed with the A1 Mini, or are any of the pieces of the insert too big?

The standard sized solo cards can be sleeved but will be very tight. The tarot sized solo cards cannot be sleeved. The A1 Mini should work but the Market Strip has to be divided. I am uploading a print profile now.

Is it possible to upload a split Market Strip stl that we can gorilla glue together?

Great look. Sadly, does not fit FFG / Sleeve Kings premium sleeves for the standard sized cards. I assume the common cards will suffer the same issue. Still a great starting point.

Those ones too tall? I tested with Gamegenic Matte and KMC Hyper Matte.

FFG / Sleeve Kings Premium are probably the worst sleeves for fit. I had to modify the area for the cards from 93.75mm to 96.5mm and they're still a little tight to just drop in. Another mm would be preferred.

Printing with Sunlu PLA+ 2.0 (and that profile) the Market Tray is too short by about 1mm, if I force the pieces in it bows up in the middle and doesn't lay flat on the table.

There could be minor variances in how the Market Strip was cut by the machines in production. I've seen lots of photos of it working fine, so your copy might just have a minor size difference. You can manually increase the size of the length by 1mm in your slicer.

0.8mm longer was a perfect fit

Great insert replacement. I just got done printing the last piece. Now working on the exhaust tokens. Question though, what is the last card slot in the common cards tray? I can’t find that icon in the book. Thanks for sharing!!

Good question—the icon is from the card backs of the Stardate cards. The 2-player Stardate cards go in that slot. (I also put the player aid cards in there too)

Awesome. That’s what I was thinking.

Looks great, printing has started! For the solo Tarot sized cards, why won't they fit sleeved? could the space be carved out a little more for them or is it a height issue?

It is a height issue, so there just isn't room with the way I designed it.

Printing the insert now, can't wait to see how it looks. Using Bambu PLA Matte Ivory White and Bambu PLA Basic Black. Will upload some photos once it is done.
