Description

There is a bit of a Hollow Knight obsession at my house and I thought it would be a good opportunity for me to learn some new skills in OnShape. I searched online and learned that all the other models are garbage so I made my own (my search was not extensive and heavily biased).

The mask fits a bit big on the “youths” in my home 11-16, but also fits my head (with a bit of chin showing). You can experiment with scaling it to suit your needs. This is my 2nd version of it and benefits from many changes to how I set it up to print, but it still takes about 15 hours for the main part.

We used some hot glue to put some black fabric on the inside for the eyes and it seems to work well. You may also want a little glue on the horns to keep them steady (but it fits snugly without it)

printed good, have some post processing sanding to do but my son loves it. going to get some mesh for the eyes. The horns fit perfectly. Didn't fit my head but nothing printed on the P1S would lol. This fit my sons head perfectly though amd he was the intended recipient.

So glad it worked out for your son. My intended audience has been my teenagers (which fit). I have some ideas about how to make an adult sized version (I think it will be an inferior product), but it is tough to justify the additional work when I personally have no use for it. If I see enough interest here I will do it.

Getting ready to print this. Did you need supports for the chin area? I don't want to print the whole thing only for it to fail at the end.

It fits my wife's head but not mine. Wish it was bigger.

Understandable, I maxed out the size of the print space without having to split the main body of the mask in 2. my son says "well 4/5 starts is still pretty good. at least it isn't 1 star."

Agreed. I wish the print bed was larger. What did you use for the eyes?

We went to the fabric store and purchased a black mesh fabric that was easy to see through. For these masks I did 2 layers so that it looks solid black from the outside. Not sure exactly what we ended up getting, but it was similar to this: https://www.joann.com/p/shiny-nylon-tulle-54in/19835065.html (I personally would go into a fabric store to ensure it is dark enough. (Originally we just used a simple black fabric, but you couldn't see out of it well enough to read, which was problematic)

Ok, now you need to make a hornet one too.

I can't argue with that. I have begun the work but it will definitely be harder.

I tried to print it on the A1 but got many errors since the preferred slicer is the ps1. Also, when I printed the horns on mobile, it completely failed every time.

Sorry to hear that, I assumed that the A1 would print it substantially the same as the p1s.
