Diamond Painting Boat 12cm x 7cm in Two Versions with Magnet Insert

My wife found standard diamond painting boats too monotonous, so I had to create something myself :)

The file provides two plates, depending on your text preference, essentially mirrored versions.

This depends on your painting hand and your desired placement of the Diamond inscription.

You can print the boat in various colors. Base, lines, and hull can be individually customized with color.

Suitable magnets: 10mm x 2mm

I've adjusted the 3mf file for optimal printing. Here are some additional details:

  • The file uses "Arachne" wall mode. The boat and stoppers can be printed without "Arachne", but the lid should be printed with "Arachne" for best results!
  • The 0.4 stopper fits perfectly by default. However, I've included 0.3 and 0.2 stoppers in .step format. These stoppers utilize variable layer height for a superior finish.
  • Regarding the stoppers: If you reduce the bridging speed (external) from 50mm/s to, say, 30mm/s, the bridge will be finer, but you'll need to use the 0.3 stopper.
  • Therefore, leave it as is and the 0.4 stopper fits perfectly.
  • The magnet insert accommodates shrinkage to ensure the magnets fit. I have 10x2 mm magnets at home but they are actually 10.1mm x 2.1mm, so I had to adjust tolerances. More is always better, but impractical for precise models.
  • Thus, there's no need for concern, the magnet insert has a tolerance of 10.4 x 2.35 mm and the magnets will easily slide in.
  • I set the print speed to a maximum of 150mm/s for a good balance between quality and speed.

My 12cm x 7cm boats also fit wonderfully into my garage, which you can find on my page.

Hello! What are the magnets used for?

Hey, The magnets prevent the boats from easily falling out of the garages (see my page) For without magnets, they might wobble and shift within the garages during movement. I hope you understand what I mean :) You can of course also print the boats without magnets, if you don’t need or want any Simply print without inserting a pause :)

At what point do I pause the print and add the magnets? Thank you for your response. I am very new to 3d printing

My apologies for the delayed response. When slicing, observe the layer where the first layer crosses the hole. Insert a pause there. Although it may sound strange, the pause is implemented at the beginning of the layer, and the hole is only filled at the end of the layer. Hopefully, this helps, even though the reply is late

Thank you for your feedback, however, I suspect the issue may lie with your print settings or printer. I have already printed approximately 60 pieces myself, using the same settings as uploaded, and have experienced no issues with anything not fitting or requiring rework. Did you alter any of the settings? Regards :)
