AMS Ultra Lite

Boost Me (for free)

Do you like my project?! Give me a boost, it's free and repays the effort put into designing it ☺️

The AMS Ultra Lite is a modification of our AMS Lite that will allow the use of all filaments for your printer, keeping them protected from moisture, all without altering the original design!

Caution: RFID functionality will no longer be active with this project!

Installing the AMS Ultra Lite on your printer will be very simple:

Why print it?

  • The original AMS Lite offers no filament protection, so by installing the AMS Ultra Lite you can take the filament from your Dry Box eliminating the bulk of the AMS Lite.
  • There are many other third-party solutions, but they all require additional material and multiple print beds.
  • No third-party solution maintains the original look of the AMS Lite.

In short, easy, fast, simple, what are you waiting for?!

Print it and enjoy your new layout!

i wrongly thought i don't need the ams and now that i want to buy it after the fact, i'm slightly offput by the price, it's more than the printer, so when i saw this design i came to wonder if i could just get a replacement motherboard, cable and the feeder units. did you use anything else from the ams lite?

yes you can do this, it works perfectly! I myself bought just the motherboard and one feeder unit for dual material printing

You take the AMS light apart and then install just the feeding hub onto this print. It attaches to the A1 mini z rod housing. From there, you would put your filament into a dry box somewhere (not shown in these images at all) and then feed a tube from that dry box into the AMS Lite hub. What it gives you? Ability to keep your filament dry and at a low moisture point while still using the A1 Mini. What you lose and sacrifice? Space. While this specific unit takes up less space, a dry box with 4 kg of spools will take up more space. RFID. You will no longer be able to use the RFID feature as that's in the AMS Lite body that the spools click into. Speaking of that, you would also lose the ability to rewind the spool using that main body as it does stock.

Agree with all points except that because the respool is done passively, you could (in theory) retain the respool function by re-mounting the base elsewhere (like a sufficiently large dry box) and routing from there

The optimal solution for now

Those sharp bends in the tubing leading from AMS to the print head look like they'd be really problematic

It was a photo, with a provisional assembly, yet with those curves I printed for 80 hours without the slightest problem

Perfect, I encountered no issues. I added a touch of color but altered nothing else. The model is paired with the universal support rotated 90°.

Hello, I'm trying to design it, but since I only have an A1 mini and not an A1, testing it will be difficult. As soon as it's ready, if you're interested, I'll let you know so you can perhaps try it and we can work together to optimize it. ☺️

I'd also love an A1 version.

The 90° adapter was not optimal, as it was only secured with one screw I have slightly improved it so that it is now firmly attached with four screws

Only a minor issue closing the lid, as the tabs that needed to be screwed in broke. I solved it with a couple of plastic clamps. I've saved a lot of space with this model, as I have my filaments on top. Thank you for sharing the model

What did you add to the back of the AMS Lite Feeders and where can I find them?

great work from the designer, but i adapted it and made a wall mount so it could hang above my Sunlu S4 dryer. 2 taking space for 1, perfect.
