Description

I made my own lithophane using the maps provided by Nasa (NASA SVS | CGI Moon Kit) and using an online lithophane maker (ItsLitho • Free Online Image to Lithophane Maker). All the tools used for this project are free and available online. I tried most of the moon texture maps and lithophane makers and this is what I found to be the best but its not the only way. You can use these tools to make lithophane of other celestial bodies.

Scale to any size you want!

The file provided has no opening. It is meant to be a starting point if you wanted to rotate the moon into different orientations or design your own lamp kit if you do not want to use the one provided by Bambu Labs.

This is a great model, and looks amazing. Printed with a 0.2 nozzle, and model height scaled so that height was 140mm. Takes a while to print, but well worth the wait.

This is exactly what I was looking for. I have some Glow in the dark blue filament and purple and I have Blacklight bulbs that match this exactly. I just have to order the Sockets.

I didn’t even think about using the glow in the dark filament. That’s a good idea! Please upload a picture/print profile once you print it!

Will do I'm finishing the print of the base I'm doing it in rainbow filament which is unusual but really cool. Might have to work out a lithophane orb of Jupiter and try that.

Actually it might be my fault. my model was optimized for 100% scale. Seems when I reduced the scale so it would pass the maker world time requirement. the Variable layers got removed. I will update the print profile and add instructions in the description.

this came out really well, but I didn’t realize it was at 50%, though it will look great with a lit base, I am going to print a different model I found that’s optimized already at 8in size. Attempting to print this at 100% gave me warnings that it is far more polys than recommended.

Thank you for the rate. I made a base for it but it uses a specific light I bought off amazon.
