Description

Here's another star wars ship model for your suspended model collection..

This time i made the Tie Silencer that Kylo Ren piloted in The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker..

As per usual my suspended model has a channel to add in the LED strip lights..
I also prep the print profile to print in multicolor.. using 4 colors..

The suspended Tie Silencer is printed using

  1. BambuLab PLA Grey Sparkle..
  2. BambuLab PLA Basic Black..
  3. BambuLab PLA Basic Silver..
  4. BambuLAb PLA Red

I modelled everything using Autodesk Tinkercad and I might be sharing the speed modelling of the ship itself later..

REMEMBER WHEN PRINTING MY SUSPENDED MODEL TO CHANGE THE WALL GENERATOR SETTINGS FROM CLASSIC TO ARACHNE..

PLEASE PREVIEW THE SLICED MODEL TO MAKE SURE THE STRINGS ARE VISIBLE..

i hope you guys have fun 3d printing my new suspended tie silencer..

Fantastic design. Question, if I were to remove the three slightly thicker strings at the very back would I instantly regret it?

it should be fine as i used it as a brimm to print the center ship to stick to the plate better.. The thick strings also help make the suspended ship more rigid and durable.. i actually knocked mine while i was inserting the LED strips and broke 2 of the cannon on the wings.. but the thick strings helped to keep the other strings intact and stablize..

Thanks for replying. The LED strip arrived today. I had no idea they are individually addressable. Absolutely fantastic now it's lit up!!!

Fantastic design and print. the end 'prongs' came out a little bit ropey for some reason but it still looks great! Many thanks for your work in designing this!

Can you use a generic LED kit from Amazon?

I think so.. Just make sure the strip width is 10cm or less

10 mm? Thank you, this is printing now, about 1.5 days left! Your models are so good! If you ever have the time or inclination, please do Serenity from the Firefly series like this!

Excellent, wonderful! However, even with supports enabled, I see before printing that no supports are generated for the filaments that should hold the model, in my opinion, these would simply be printed in mid-air. Therefore, I am not starting to print it, I fear the filaments/supports would not be printed. Or should I rotate the model?

you need to change the wall generator settings from classic to arachne

Okay, I've done that. I'll get started then :)

Does this design require no supports

Following along, this is my first floating print, and besides arching it, I suppose supports are still necessary

Does the profile have the proper wall and support settings to just print this through Handy?
