Description

The weirdest and coolest heart shaped coasters and coaster holder.

What to say about these?

  • They color shift when the bottom layer is a different color from the fins.
  • They are FLEXIBLE.   Printed in Bambu's Matte PLA, they are flexible.   It's such a strange phenomenon.
  • This is part of my “flex-fin” series of coasters and models.

Use the “clone” feature in Bambu Studio to make as many heart shaped coasters as you'd like.  (right click on the heart, and select “clone”.

I prefer to print the holder on a separate plate, as the first color layer is thicker than in the coasters.  Separate plates will minimize the number of color changes needed.

The holder is designed to hold up to four.

Please share your photos!  I can't wait to see what color combinations you use.

PTEG filament would be nice too, but the way this is designed, there is an awesome flex with regular PLA.   magic.  ha.  :)

Is there a chance you could optimize these 5 layers for multi color silk to all run the same way? I love this model. I've printed 5 or 6 already 😆

Let me see what I can do! I think we may need to turn the heart slightly on the bed of the printer, and then select "Seam Alignment to Back". I have some tri-color on my printer right now. I'll get started on a test. Thank you for checking on this with me. I love a good challenge. :)

Let me keep working on it this evening. My first idea that I mentioned, did not work. Bah. I'm determined. I love dual and tri-color filament!

Came out perfect! Awesome job. I am printing these for my daughter's class and autism group so they will be enjoyed by many. Thanks so much!

Yeah! I'm so happy that it worked. It was a fun puzzle. I'm not completely pleased with the seam, when printed at certain angles. (lots of testing here, has occurred.. lol.). But I do love the color phenomenon from the dual and tri-color with this method. I have a few more related models ready to go. I'll drop you a note when I get them finalized and uploaded to MakerWorld. Again-- thank you for speaking up and making the request. You're awesome!

Thank you! I found this design technique by accident. I didn't expect that first print to flex!. I'm having fun with it now. Thank you for the stars!
