Description

Based on the feedback of the original model (and because my 8-year-old son finally damaged my first lock), I'm uploading the version 2 of the lock. Changes:

  • Better fit to the switch lever. In my test, it even stays in place without the need for the screw.
  • Screw with closer tolerance to the hole, better fit.

As with the original version, the objective with this lock is to install it on any switch you want to keep ON or OFF, without messing with the screws of the switch cover.

 

  • Please ensure your plate is clean, washing with warm water and dish soap helps.
  • If possible, use a glue stick for the plastic screw (it is a small part)
  • Please remember this is PLA, avoid using too much force in the screw to prevent deformation.

Print quality is 5⭐️. Screw is a snug fit. Unfortunately it wouldn’t work for me because my switch levers are too wide. Recommend you measure them and make sure they will fit before you print. My switch is 7.0mm +\- 0.1. Measured inside of lock and it was 6.6mm. Printed with BL PLA Basic in Jade White from Bambú Handy with designers print profile. If designer is willing to make V3 I’d give it another try. I could remix it for my own use but then couldn’t post it under the current license.

Hi, I just uploaded the print profile "0.12mm layer, 4 walls, 30% infill - wider version (7mm)". I used a design width of 7.15mm, and when I measure with my vernier it's around 7.0 or 7.1 (I don't have the digital caliper here right now). Not sure if you want to give it a try, or maybe we can go a little wider (like 7.3 just to make sure). Let me know,

Bed Adhesion Issue:only printed 1 screw
Other Issues:main piece printed with a bottom I had to carve out. not a tight fit on the switch, overall okay

Thanks for the feedback. Some people say that glue stick is not required for PLA, or that the glue would negatively impact the adhesion. However in my experience it is worth it to use the glue stick, to make sure the parts are kept in the plate.

Alot of times bed adhesion issues are on the printer not the designer

there's a light switch that shuts off the power in the room with the internet box. this will be perfect to keep the kids from shutting it off

works as a cover but doesn't really prevent the switch from being flipped, actually if u do the cover falls off. Its working as a visual deterrent though.
