Description

I keep seeing people asking how to configure the PETG support interface when printing PLA. So here it is. I have been using this for years so I thought I may as well make a profile that includes all necessary settings. You obviously don't have to print the test model and just take the settings as is.

I’ve only been doing this about a month, so I’m intrigued and I’m gonna have to beg ignorance and ask what is this? Some way to print petg and pla together or something? Thanks!

not quite. PLA and PETG don't stick together. In Bambi slicer you can enable supports for overhangs etc. The problem is sometimes supports stick too good, leaving a rough surface quality making it difficult to get a good look without post processing (sanding etc). but Bambi Studio has also an option to select a different material for Support Interface. The support interface is a thin layer of material between the model and the support itself. This is a profile with settings that show a PLA example where PETG is used as support interface. Because PETG and PLA don't stick together, the support pops right off. Support Interface is you Stickproof backing paper of 3d printing :)

OK, I get that PLA and PETG don’t stick, so you could use PETG To make support for a PLA model, or I guess use a layer of PETG between a PLA model and a PLA support so they won’t stick, I’m not sure which… but what does this thing do?

Check the picture .. Black = PLA .. White = PETG ... so basically the supports don't stick to the model. ... Not sure I can explain it much better than that - maybe check out this : https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&;v=JfXNTzasoUY
