Description

The Side Mount Filament Guide is as simple a guide as I had intended it to be.  Under an hour to print, not an eye sore and easy to install.  Only one existing screw on the back of the PS1/X1C needs to be removed and replaced with a 12mm version of the same screw to install, (Please see Photos).  After testing a few “Y” splitters I determined that the “SMOOTHY” and SMOOTHY HOLSTER" Designed by JDJDJD here on MakerWorld were by far the best and most reliable and designed the side mount filament guide work in conjunction with the “Smoothy”.  The print plate includes the Smoothy, Smoothy Holster and the Side Mount Filament Guide. I hope I didn't break any rules here including the Smoothy.  This work perfectly along with my previous Upload “HINGED SIDE MOUNT SPOOL HOLDER” found here….. https://makerworld.com/en/models/1036765#profileID-1020734

I’ve been putting off printing a y-splitter for ages since I couldn’t find a design I liked- that is until this slid across my path! Printed perfectly in PETG, assembly/installation was easy and it works flawlessly! Thanks!

That's awesome! Looks really nice on your machine too! I was in the same boat as you. I wanted a Y splitter but everything out there was just either too bulky or just over designed. I decided that the only way I was gonna be happy was to make my own. Im really glad your happy with it also. Please rate it if you find the time.

Replying to @RonRob61 :
Yeah! I enjoy how the y-splitter is held by a bracket instead of directly screwed into the machine or hanging loosely. Looks clean and it easier to detach if I need to! Unfortunately, it won’t let me rate anything, probably because I’m currently printing in LAN mode… sorry!! But it’s definitely 5 stars from me!

It's a tight fit for the outgoing tube on the left, but with a bit of stretching and wiggling, it's working great!

Perfect impression, however, one minor note (reason for the 4 stars): the replacement screw should be 14 mm and not 12 mm. The combined thickness of the two parts is 9.72 mm + the length of the original 4 mm screw = 13.72 mm, therefore 14 mm. A 12 mm screw will not fit. P1S printer from 2025.

Your 9.72 measurement is off by 2mm. There is a recess in the part of 2mm so that the head of the screw is recessed so that the smoothy holster can sit flush when inserted. So the thickness that the screw passes thru is only 7.72mm. I just took mine apart and measured the screw just to be sure. 12mm is the correct size as documented.

It turned out beautifully :-) I'm using the Bambu 4-1 adapter and therefore combined it with the mount from Ocular Dynamic (https://makerworld.com/en/models/156777?from=search#profileId-171803) This allows me to screw it on twice, printed with PTEG

I needed to use a brim for the tall piece as it fell over near the end of the print. otherwise excellent

Im glad you like the part. The Smoothy "Tall Part" has a pretty good, solid base and should not have fallen over. There have been nearly 100 prints of this since publishing 2 weeks ago and your the only one to report this. You may need to clean your plate. Some warm water and a few drops of dish soap works great. Im assuming your printing on a PS1 or X1 series printer. If not and its a Bed Slinger then the BRIM would deff be the way to go.
