Description

Two Jack and Sally drink coasters and Christmas ornaments with the stained glass look. One is printed with a clean greyscale look and the other is the typical colorful stained glass look that you see on buildings such as churches and Cathedrals. This coaster is thicker in the center than my other coasters for both the detail, and to better support drinks.

Though the print has uneven areas due to the color changes, drinks can still be safely placed on the coasters without spillage. See above pictures as I have placed my drink in several locations, especially on the colored coaster since that one is more uneven, and it still supports drinks just fine.

To better protect and add some visual appeal, try using a 2 part epoxy. Follow the instructions of the epoxy and use a heat gun carefully to get bubbles out while not warping the print. I also recommend doing a thin first layer just to coat the surface and so it doesn't gas and create bubbles, let dry overnight, and fill with final coat. Looks very nice when done right! See above picks that is in my hand for what it looks like with epoxy as you can see the light reflections. I also recommend a good 2 part brand like WATCO Super Glaze Crystal Clear, and NOT an injector like Gorilla.

You can also buy cork backing and cut to size. Keeps the coaster from sliding and also looks nice! Also see above for pics of cork backing.

Scale up or down on X/Y axis only. DO NOT adjust Z height!

DO NOT correct “Non-Manifold Error.”

If you get “floating regions” warning, that can safely be ignored and does not required supports.

Thank you and good question. I haven't really found a good video. Some offer good tips, but none that are perfect for something like this. Mine isn't even perfect. I did several different coasters by trial and error. First few were a disaster lol. Bubbles are your worst enemy when using epoxy. I highly recommend using a mixing ratio paint cup to mix, mix SLOWLY, and after mixing use a heat gun to get most bubbles out while in cup. Also, do a thin layer just to glaze the top to prevent gassing, which will cause bubbles while drying, while carefully using heat gun again. After about 4 hours or later, do the final pour of epoxy. Must cure for at least 72 hours at room temperature before use. Also, I used cork backing which I added to the profile as a suggestion and pic. See attached pics recommended epoxy brand, cork backing, and a different coaster that turned out great after using epoxy.
