Mid-Century Modern Hand Chair – Child-Sized Version

Following up on my original mini hand chair I’ve taken things to the next level—scaling it up 450% to create a functional child-sized version! This design retains the iconic mid-century modern look while being a fun and creative seat for little ones.

This model is provided as-is and should be considered ornamental. While I have successfully used it as a chair for my children, I cannot guarantee its strength or safety, as this depends on your printing method, assembly, material choice, and how it’s used. Please print and use at your own discretion.

Print & Assembly Details:

• Optimized for Fewer Prints: The model has been cut into large sections to minimize the number of print beds needed.
• Pegged for Easy Assembly: I added alignment pegs to ensure a snug fit when gluing pieces together.
• Adhesive Used: I used 3D Printer Gloop (great for PLA) but plan to try PETG in the future for added durability.
• Layer & Infill:
  • 5% adaptive cubic infill (keeps filament usage low while maintaining structural integrity).
  • 3 walls for extra strength.
• Supports:
  • Only needed for horizontally oriented pegs but optional on the top of the base to prevent minor drooping.

Future Plans:

I’m already working on a larger version with a 14-inch seat height for bigger kids—stay tuned for that! In the meantime, this size works great for little ones and makes a cool piece of decor. Let me know how your prints turn out!
