🌟 Introducing Slim Stacking Magnetic Boxes – Thoughtful Design for Makers! 🌟

Hey everyone! After plenty of prototyping and testing, I’m excited to share my Slim Stacking Magnetic Boxes – a practical and versatile solution designed with makers in mind. These boxes are the result of careful thought and real-world use, and I hope they’ll be as useful to you as they’ve been for me.

What Makes These Boxes Great:
These boxes are all about functionality and simplicity. They’re designed to be easy to print, assemble, and use, with features that make them a handy addition to any workspace or display. Here’s what you’ll love:

🔧 Key Features:

  • Compact Size: 125mm external dimensions – print 4 at once on a single A1 build plate for efficient production.
  • Secure Snap Lid: The flush-mounted lid snaps firmly into place, staying put without interfering with the magnetic connections.
  • Stackable & Magnetic: Boxes snap together effortlessly, creating a stable stack. Lids fit on the top or bottom, so you can customize your setup.
  • Clean Magnet Inserts: Open-back design allows for easy adhesive application, keeping the front clean and professional-looking.
  • Filament-Efficient: Uses just ~100 grams of filament per box & lid – quick and affordable to print!
  • Versatile Options: Choose from center, side, and corner magnet versions to create a seamless display with no visible magnets.

🎯 Designed for Practicality:
As someone who’s spent a lot of time tinkering with 3D prints, I wanted to create something that’s both functional and reliable. These boxes have been tested to ensure they’re easy to print and assemble, so you can focus on using them rather than troubleshooting.

🌟 Why They Work So Well:

  • Easy to Print: The design is optimized for hassle-free printing, even for beginners.
  • Flexible Use: Use them with or without lids, stack them high, or arrange them side by side – they’re as versatile as you need them to be.
  • Clean & Functional: The minimalist design looks great while keeping your items organized and secure.

🙏 A Big Thank You:
To everyone who’s supported this project along the way – your feedback and encouragement have been invaluable. These boxes are a small contribution to the maker community, and I’m grateful to share them with you.

🔥 Ready to Get Organized?
Whether you’re showcasing miniatures, organizing small parts, or just need some sleek storage, these Slim Stacking Magnetic Boxes are here to help. Print, stack, and enjoy – it’s that simple!

Fits good!, the lid. Thank you. But as you say, you can't have boxes next to each other with the lids on. I don't know if a lid in the shape of the bottom will work. With something of of a knob or handle on top. Probebly not so secure though.

I've already made a new one, but you're right, it sits inside the lid, but doesn't snap in or anything. I think I'll look at making some sort of internal snap. But in the meantime, I do have a flush mount top that is stackable, allows the magnetic connection, and (an unforeseen benefit) allows the lids themselves to be stackable. Still a work in progress and I appreciate you being willing to test it out!

cool boxes, scaled to 120mm to print up to 4 boxes on the same A1 plate waiting for the magnets to arrive to print more

Thanks! With how these things are taking off, I may make more variants so you don't need to worry about magnet sizes from scaling. Those look great!

well, I wasn’t even thinking about the magnets size after the scaling :D but the holes became just perfect for the 8x2 magnets to fit with a little pressure

Awesome! And I like your idea of getting 4 on a plate. I think I might do that, and just make them taller to maintain the same volume, and turn that into the default model. Thanks!

Printed 2 of them The blue one is better with other PLA. "Stacking" nicely. Have to buy the magnets. The band at hight of magnet holes is not nice, but I guess thats because of other print speed for the holes. Am I right?

that band is from the speed change on your printer. probably from the generic pla profile would be my guess. Let me know if you have any questions!

It varies depending on the animal. I would say around 60% or so.

are the lids able to connect to the old version?

Unfortunately not. They are the new size so they won't fit.

You could grab some measurements and stretch it in the x/y direction to match the internal dimensions of the old model, and that might work.
