Flexible Cable Organizer for Screwing or Adhesive Mounting (Version 2)

1. Function Description

This 3D-printed cable organizer provides a simple and flexible solution for cable management. It consists of a sturdy base with an attached ratchet strap. The ratchet structure allows for easy adjustment to different cable diameters. It is particularly useful for mounting under desks, on walls, or other surfaces to keep cables neatly arranged.

New in Version 2: This updated version introduces hinges for the ratchet strap, allowing for even easier handling and adjustment. As with the previous version, the hinges are fully print-in-place, ensuring seamless functionality straight from the print bed.

2. Design and Structure

Ratchet Strap:

  • Length: approx. 8 cm
  • Adjustable diameter thanks to the ratchet structure
  • Suitable for cable bundles up to 2 cm in diameter
  • Hinged connection for improved flexibility and ease of use
  • To secure, the end of the strap is bent about 45° and threaded through the opening

Mounting Base:

  • Can be attached with a screw or double-sided adhesive tape
  • Flat surface for strong adhesion to smooth surfaces
  • Compact design for versatile applications

3. Recommended Materials

PETG:

  • Offers high strength and flexibility
  • Withstands repeated bending without breaking
  • Good layer adhesion, ensuring durability of the strap

TPU (optional):

  • More flexible than PETG
  • Ideal for applications where a softer and more elastic grip is preferred
  • Provides a gentler hold on cable bundles

4. Applications

  • Cable management under desks
  • Organizing charging cables, network cables, or other wires
  • Securing cables to furniture or walls
  • Keeping cables tidy in workshops, offices, or living spaces

5. Printing Settings and Recommendations

  • Layer height: 0.2 mm for a balance between detail and stability
  • Infill: 20-30% for sufficient strength while minimizing material usage
  • Print bed: Should ensure good adhesion (using a glue stick or textured plate if needed)
  • Supports: Not required, as the design is optimized for support-free printing, including the new hinge mechanism

This 3D-printed cable organizer is a practical and customizable solution for keeping cables tidy and organized. With the added hinges in Version 2, adjusting and securing cables is even more convenient while maintaining the ease of printability.
