Description

This is the smallest of my inifinity cube designs - designed from the ground up to make it the smallest print-in-place infinity cube by a long way! Its the same size as a single cube from a regular sized one. And amazingly it can be printed with a standard 0.4mm nozzle!

This small size makes it perfect for one handed fidgeting and keeping a few in your pocket at all times and the tight tolerances make it a smooth and rattle free experience. 

This is the smallest of my infinity cube designs. To enable such a small design it needed to be created from the ground up to achieve this uniquely tiny form while still being printable. By a long way, it’s the smallest print-in-place infinity cube ever! The whole thing is the size of a single cube from a regular-sized design.

  • XS - this is Tiny - 10mm tall ←- this model
  • Small - 15mm tall 
  • Regular - 20mm tall

  • Scaling - you can scale boxes up, not down

 

Important Printing Instructions:

  • To ensure the cube prints correctly and functions as intended, it’s crucial to use the built-in profile provided. 
  • If this isn’t possible, make sure to copy the settings exactly, including enabling the Arachne wall generator. 
  • Without this, the joints won’t work properly.

This ultra-compact infinity cube offers the same satisfying movement and functionality as its larger counterparts, all in a size you’ll never want to leave behind!

I printed another one this morning and, again, super cuuuuuuute! But noticed that the inner hinges are... squiggly (totally surface roughness, doesn't affect function). The first print (the black one) was the same. Every other surface and hinge prints smoothly as expected. Wondering if this is a common issue with the model, or if I need to troubleshoot my printer/filament?

it's normal - it's a function of how the top hinges need to be printed, the underside of it is effectively printed un-supported.

probably should not have printed this in Silk +, but I accidentally chose the wrong slot. still, works great

Looking good! I actually print a lot of my designs in silk. the modern silks seems to print well and have reasonable later adhesion, though I find the rainbow filaments to be a lot weaker still.

the thing I noticed here is that the underside of the two "connectors" on the short ends came out a little unclean. originally I attributed that to the silk filament because I haven't really noticed that before, but in checking the orientation that those come out as on the print, that's probably because those are bridged and this is quite small. after having noticed that I looked closer at the same on the larger one I printed and it shows the same thing, only not quite as bad, possibly because the scale of it is bigger. so likely this is just my inexperience blaming the wrong thing 😁

yeah, those joint are effectively printing in mid air so it's the best we can do!

Awesome print! Reduced the speed for Sunlu high speed PLA by setting it to silent mode and the cube came out great. my daughter loves the small size!
