Description

I patented this design about 8 years ago - GB2558298. I use them for gardening and round the house as cable ties.

Feel free to print for your own use, or for sale outside the UK only.

It was designed so that it can easily be tied and untied, and cut into smaller lengths to create multiple smaller ties. I generally print 20 at a time, using Bambu TPU Blue (51600), and they print great every time.

Enjoy :)

For anyone interested in selling these after making them… I believe here in the uk a roll of bambu 51600 is around £40 delivered, and this can make around 495 individual cable ties.

Similar (but Inferior lol) products sell for around £4.50 for 25. So if you have a buyer who wants these cable ties they are definitely viable financially to make and sell by 3d printing them.

Fill your boots :)

Thanks 👍 Unfortunately the rolls were just mock ups for what was originally a fund raising video (around 10 ties glued together). I didn't get funding, and didnt want to make them unless I could make the full rolls as one piece. I would be interested to know if they would print on a belt 3d printer 🤔

Mass production was meant to be the rectangular outer profile extruded and then ran thru cutting dies top and bottom. The holes would be punched out last. I would really like to 3d print a roll, but I have too many other projects to get back into these ties.

I've had the Patent 8 years and done nothing with it so why not let someone else do it?

Impressed by your integrity. Patenting alone surely was not cheap. Have you never tried to mass produce it? I imagine that rotary die cutting out of 0.5mm PP foil would be a very affordable and robust result. Tooling would cost almost nothing.

Thanks 👍 I've had some in a display cabinet holding pens and pencils together for 8 years, they have yet to show any signs of breaking. So they should be long lasting too.
