Description

(*NOTE* THIS DOWNLOAD COMES WITH 2 VARIATIONS ON THE LOCK RING, ONE IS A SNUG “SLIP FIT”, AND THE SECOND IS A “SCREW/BOLT ON FIT” THAT MOUNTS SOLID WITH 5 PLACES TO SCREW IN PLACE AS MARKED WITH RED ARROWS IN THE PICS ABOVE. 4 SCREW HOLE'S USE EXISTING SCREWS FOR THE TOOLHEAD AND THE 5TH LINES UP WITH A VENT HOLE ON THE FRONT COVER, USE AN EXTRA SCREW TO ATTACH THE FRONT CORNER TO THE TOOLHEAD COVER FOR A REALLY SECURE SOLUTION. I USE THE SLIP FIT BUT DESIGNED A FULLY BOLT ON LOCKING RING JUST INCASE SO LEAVE ME SOME FEEDBACK ON WHATEVER RING YOU PRINT!)

*TPU Locking ring to secure the front cover of the tool head! X1C (micro lidar) friendly, one of the best upgrades to prevent issues/failures with the cover falling off. I have been using this model I made in my X1C for 1800 hours + so it is well proven. Also can be printed in PETG or PETG-CF and will still snap in place if your careful so this isn't limited to the TPU if you don't have the filament.

Here's an example of my "bolt on" version of the lock ring printed in PETG-CF, with PETG washers, retaining my new BMP custom toolhead front cover Model #2 for reference. With Custom toolhead covers you only need to use 4 screws to mount the ring, but with the original bambu cover the model has a 5th screw hole that lines up with a vent hole of the std front cover so you can use 5 screws in total with a standard cover or just use 4 like you can see in the attached pic and your toolhead cover isn't going ANYWHERE! Very solid solution, I've already shown the cover with my "slide on" TPU lock ring so now there's an example of both version of the lock ring in 2 different materials. Please rate, thank you!

Here’s some pics of my bolt on version of the locking ring in PETG-CF for visual reference. Thanks for checking out my models, please rate and consider giving me a follow as I’d greatly appreciate that and return the favor when possible! Best Regards, BMP.

I would love to try it out, but that BMP logo bothers me. Is it possible to provide your model without it? One more question: why aren't the front sides symmetrical below the fan?

Yes, I can absolutely make a clean version of the lock ring. The lock ring couldn't be symmetrical due to the Micro Lidar in the right side of the toolhead. Without the relief on the right side for clearance the locking ring hits the lidar and will not sit in place properly. I tried it without the cut out for a bit and it actually put pressure on the ring/cover in a way that would pull the top magnets in the cover away from the print head and error out with "the front cover has fallen off". For the P series printer this isn't an issue so that is to work with the X1 without issues and the P1 series printers without the Micro Lidar. The front left corner of the lock ring had to be carefully shaped and adjusted the height until it provided the proper amount of friction to hold the ring more securely in place as well as cover a portion of any added part cooling fan dust cover to the front of the cover as well to help retain the dust cover as well as the toolhead front cover. Thank you for the comment and some feedback as its much appreciated! I'll upload a clean version with no BMP ASAP. Thank you!

Thank you for your prompt and detailed response and the intention to provide a clean version One more question regarding the material used which in your opinion is better suited TPU or PETG

Thank you for all the likes, downloads, boosts, support, etc so far as it is much appreciated!!! So many hours went into making my BMP X1 / P1 Tool Head Lock Ring models basically perfect as far as fit/function. It didn’t take long at all for me to run into issues with the standard design relying solely on the magnets and after a few annoying instances getting errors about my toolhead cover “falling off” when it was in fact properly fitted and the screws for the circuit board with the hall sensor were tight, all magnets in place, etc.. Then it became more frequent when pushing the speeds so I got to work designing this model probably 8 months ago using PETG or PETG-CF only and it has been unbelievably awesome! Not just saying it because I made it, all I care about is my machine operating as it should ALWAYS with as little down time as possible so if I can help others out with something that has actually worked for me then I most certainly will. Just recently started playing with TPU more so I made a print profile to upload for TPU with my model. As I mentioned above this model was designed with PETG initially so this model can be printed in basically any filaments you want, but at least use PETG at the minimum for material and this will work for you using your own print profile for said filament. I have not found the need to adjust the scaling of the lock ring for TPU vs. PETG/PETG-CF, it just works as is so just an FYI on that. Please leave me some feedback/comment/rate with your experience printing my model and what type of filament you used, etc. Also consider following me as I just rebuilt my X1C entirely at just under 2000 hours and have it back up and running better than new so time to work on a few more models. Already put 50+ hours on the rebuild with the TPU lock ring holding up amazing. Thank you! I have PETG/PETG-CF profiles for this model I will add when I get the time that are mine that I used to print these out in the past so stay tuned if you don’t have a decent print profile. Either way please leave me some feedback on the model and rate, consider following/boosting to help share this with more creators that could use this upgrade, etc. 😁❤️✌️👍

*ATTENTION - There are two options included with this download, a snug slip fit locking ring as well as a bolt on version that can be screwed to the printhead with existing screws. I use the slip fit personally but wanted to make a version that can be secured with screws so either will work just an FYI.*
